Fandango

I bought a movie ticket on fandango using the (latest) app. There is absolutely no "send to passbook" button/link I can find anywhere, and passbook still does nothing.

Have you checked to see if your theater excepts passbook? If it doesn't that's probably why. In all of NJ only 3 currently do so I can't use it yet either.

Wow, there is only 1 theater in the entire state of Alabama that accepts mobile tickets. I love the Passbook idea and think the app is well done but, I also think it will ultimately fail because it relies on 3rd party companies to adopt new technology for it to be useful. These companies have to develop and app or update a current one and then add support in every location around the country. It's going to be a very slow roll out for people that don't live in a major city. 1 theater in my whole state, that's pathetic.

At least Fandango has updated there app for support, MovieTickets.com has not and the theater I go to is a MT.com theater.

Hmm, so am I understanding this right? I downloaded the Walgreens and Target apps... and added my rewards cards to each mobile app. So if I go to Target tonight passbook knows that I am there and will display coupons? Or do I have to manually load coupons from the Target app to passbook?

i walk close to a walgreens on the way to work and my phone displays an alert when i'm a few hundred feet away

Fellow 'bama resident here. I'm hoping more theatres adopt this soon. Especially in the tech-heavy Huntsville area...

so I downloaded the walgreens app and added it to passbook. Now that is the only thing I see in passbook, nothing else. No go to Apps Store icon. How can I see more Passbook apps like before, there is no Passbook main screen anymore. Or am I missing something.

Good find!

We're going to see Looper tomorrow and sure enough, the theater supports it! I'll give it a shot and post back how it went, maybe some screen shots.

I did see the "Send Tickets" option, but I was thinking it just emailed them vs. integrating them into Passbook.

Please report back. I'm curious about how easy it is to scan on your glass screen.

As long as it's a 2D barcode (and they of course have a 2D scanner), it should work pretty good. I think some people have tried to use 1D barcodes in some of those "card wallet" apps, and they're basically impossible to scan.

I noticed Fandango had a ticket icon next to more theaters listed vs. the list of theaters that support e-tickets (per that link), so I'm assuming that's just a ticket vending machine like we've used several times vs. having the correct scanners (and procedures) to handle electronic passes.

Totally off topic: Stoked to see Looper, it's getting incredible reviews!

Oh wait, I mean, excited for our *cough* offsite business meeting ... :D

since u have to produce a paper ticket to tsa before u go through the security checkpoint, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a mobile version of your ticket on passbook?

That's what I thought, too, but several airports throughout the US have scanners at the checkpoint that can read the boarding pass as displayed by smartphones.

I used it this weekend at both Denver International and Newark International Airports; passed my ID to the TSA and held my phone over the scanner until it beeped; the agent compared the ID to the info that came up from the scanner, and that was it. Same thing when boarding the plane (I flew United both ways).

Here's a list of what airports and airlines support paperless boarding passes:

Nothing to support your response. Thanks for nothing.

Thanks for sharing your experience with passbook with me. I'll know what to expect the next time I travel using passbook. Luckily airports that I frequent accept paperless boarding yay

Not every airline requires paper boarding passes. I have flown on AA several times where all I had was the QR code.

Was your boarding pass in Passbook or an email?

I've flown an used a digital pass sent to me via email (I believe SMS might have been an option too?), worked well. Just curious if United was using Passbook.

Has anyone given billguard a try yet? Looks like they integrate your credit cards into passbook so you can quickly see balances and transactions.

United Airlines and Passbook

Ok, I just returned from my trip via United Airlines and used Passbook for the first time. Everything works great from the time you have to log into United's iOS app then send to passbook. The boarding pass shows up and I used it through security and boarding the plane. Now I'm home, and the boarding pass is still there and I keep getting a message on my phone saying that my flight leaves at 4:42 CST. Great! But how do I remove the passes from passbook? Or stop the alert? I see no way of deleting anything. THanks,

You hit the "i" in the corner of the pass and then the trash can button at the top.
