ToucHotel has added Passbook support. You can do a test booking to try it. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349482521.337890.jpg

So I updated my Starbucks app and added Starbucks to passbook. When I went to one of the Starbucks stores that I added and sure enough Starbucks with store name popped up on my lock screen. However, I couldn't do anything with it there. I had to unlock my phone and bring up passbook to use the image to scan. Is this the way it is supposed to work? I would think I'd be able to do something from lock screen.

No this is the correct way it works.

When it pops up on your lock screen swipe like you would to open an email from your lockscreen. Should take you right to the Passbook app with the card on the main screen

I did try swiping - nothing happened.
Is there special notification setup to all swiping?

I noticed that the "swipe" is a little bit sensitive, particularly in regards to the Starbucks app. I had to touch the actual "Starbucks emblem/face" with the very tip of my finger, the swipe right. I was able to open my card for purchase even with a passcode lock. Hope this helps!

I've tried 2 different starbucks and neither one of them opened my card on the lock screen. I had to open passbook manually both times

You need to go to starbucks app>home>my favorites>stores>and select your favorite store(s).
Then go to card>manage and add to passbook
When you are close to that store it will show up on your lock screen.

Things I have discovered about Passbook. Sadly, this was the hard way since there really isn't that much info floating around.

  • Starbucks: you need to sign up for an account (either within the app or online) for Passbook to work. Once created an account the "add to passbook" button appeared.
  • Fandango: the theater that you bought the tickets for needs to support "mobile ticketing" otherwise it doesn't work. Here is a list of supported theaters in the US.
  • Live Nation: the venue needs to support mobile ticketing for it to work. Use this link to see the currently supported venues (in lower left corner in red).
I hope this help. Haven't used it for anything else. Actually, haven't even used it for the above either since my local theater doesn't support it and the concert venue I'm going to this week also doesn't support it, and I only figured out how to add the Starbucks card today.

Thanks for posting this. I guess I won't be able to use Passbook anytime soon.

I agree, thanks for posting this. A little disappointed to see the brand new theater near me doesn't support Passbook or mobile ticketing at all. Was hoping to use it soon. Come on, companies, get with the times! ;-)

Few updates today:

coupons.com (goto it on your phone) now has a passbook page, some good coupons available

AMC app updated with passbook support for tickets and stubs reward card

Living Social app updated with voucher support

How to remove coupons from passbook?

How can i remove coupons from passbook? My wife added a bunch of coupons and since i will never use them i want to get them off.

Thank you for this tip. I must have been missing this all along when trying to add my Starbucks cards to Passbook.

Wonderful. First Starbucks and now Harvester. Thank you Apple for bringing us the very worst of low quality, mainstream, multinational corporate owned feeding troughs.

Heaven forbid we had NFC and the ability to use it for public transport or an increasing number of independent retailers as they have their pos terminals updated.

Not up to Apple to write applications that work with Passbook - if a vendor wants to have passbook access then they can. There is no way everyone will be happy with what happens with a capability like passbook. If you want something there complain to the company for not supporting it.
