Before I switched all I heard is how "Amazing" Macs are. I never heard anyone pushing Windows. Macs have this amazing fan base. Windows, nor any other company have never had the support of their users like Macs. I have yet to see a Windows logo tattoed on someone!

There isnt any malicious software for the mac, hence apple didnt bother
+ XP firewall on by default
Xp firewall is a joke, it doesnt block anything:
- X firewall off by default
firewall off but still protected 😛
- X includes file and folder encryption but it is more restrictive than XP's (except as compared to XP Home, which has no file encryption)
Isnt that the whole point of encryption?
Sun has also commited to having Java ready for Longhorn when it ships, a year in advance.

^am i right in saying osx uses a better file system than windows, which doesnt (rarely) require "defragging" ?
BTW, im still a pc user (only for c:ss)

Tiger is the only 64-bit OS, besides some Linux distros, I know of. Windows isn't even fully 64-bit.

My take-away on this is that it allows for 64-bit memory addressing by applications but the OS doesn't because otherwise it wouldn't be able to run on 32-bit hardware if the OS needed 64-bit.
I don't know enough about how an OS is written to judge that having an OS run in 64-bit is actually worthwhile or not. Perhaps we could have some knowledgeable MR souls enlighten us. 😛

This is coming from an OS which leaves you in the lurch for minutes on end while it thinks how long it should take to crash
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!
You can tell that he's never used the Godawful search util that goes and finds loads of system files yet forgets to check My Documents
What's so hard about drag/drop compared to an install program that asks you loads and loads of spureous questions, and then won't uninstall properly (ie, leaves bits behind)
How can an OS that doesn't even have a webserver be on par with Apache
Again, XP doesn't have an inbuilt DVD player (at least not last time I checked)

In X, it doesn't manage to create a file 5 times the size of the origional drive (it consistantly does that to my mother's PC)
Cleanup/defrag - it cleans itself up automatically at 2AM (or summat like that) or on shutdown
Last time I checked, XP doesn't have file permissions to assign

On the servers, that PC'll probs need replacing once or twice every 5 yrs
I've never seen a desktop with a 1.6Ghz FSB. Ever. That's partly because they don't exist

A large percentage of Windows users are hardly aware that Mac OS exists, even those with iPods have trouble believing that Mac OS X, or "iPod Windows" as my friend called it, even exists in this dimension... they live in ignorance (heh) and therefore bliss. Perhaps it's better this way.
