Before I switched all I heard is how "Amazing" Macs are. I never heard anyone pushing Windows. Macs have this amazing fan base. Windows, nor any other company have never had the support of their users like Macs. I have yet to see a Windows logo tattoed on someone!

He's full of poop. Don't buy a Mac is you want to use wireless? Why the heck not? Airport is better than any PC wireless crap. Same with with don't buy a mac if you want the greatest style, shape, size, color. Oh yeah I forgot. Dell's nice black is the best EVAR!!?!??!?!!!!1111111111111!!!

Those sites are HILARIOUS.

We should all go post in their forums, be nice and reasonable (oh and right to boot), and see what they do. He can't ban everyone can he?

isnt this slightly biased?

- Apple does not provide a free malicious software removal tool

There isnt any malicious software for the mac, hence apple didnt bother

+ XP firewall on by default

Xp firewall is a joke, it doesnt block anything:

- X firewall off by default

firewall off but still protected :p

- X includes file and folder encryption but it is more restrictive than XP's (except as compared to XP Home, which has no file encryption)

Isnt that the whole point of encryption?

Sun has also commited to having Java ready for Longhorn when it ships, a year in advance.

^ hes joking right? @ a year in advance

Disk Defragmenting 7 (windows) 0(OS X)

^am i right in saying osx uses a better file system than windows, which doesnt (rarely) require "defragging" ?

BTW, im still a pc user (only for c:ss)

OS X defrags the hard drive automatically as it uses the files.

"Don't buy a Mac if:
you want a fully 64 bit OS."

Tiger is the only 64-bit OS, besides some Linux distros, I know of. Windows isn't even fully 64-bit.

" you do not want to spend $1,999 to get a 16x DVD burner (the dual 2 GHz G5 tower is the cheapest Mac with 16x {a $379 PC that a friend got recently has a 16x Lite-On that also burns CDs at 48x})."
And that Powermac can't burn CDs?

This guy is stupid. :D  :D

How do you know it was because of your typos?

Actually there is a 64-bit version of Windows, that if I'm not mistaken, requires 64-bit hardware to run.

Tiger isn't even a fully 64-bit OS though, so he is correct in saying this.

Directly from Apple's site
The 64-bit support in Tiger enables 64-bit addressing for the next generation of data-intensive applications, such as those working with gene sequencing, advanced medical imaging, and geospatial applications. Mac OS X supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware with a single version of the operating system. There is just one kernel and set of core system libraries for Tiger.
My take-away on this is that it allows for 64-bit memory addressing by applications but the OS doesn't because otherwise it wouldn't be able to run on 32-bit hardware if the OS needed 64-bit.

I don't know enough about how an OS is written to judge that having an OS run in 64-bit is actually worthwhile or not. Perhaps we could have some knowledgeable MR souls enlighten us. :p

Handling Caps Lock Key
Wtf?

Responsiveness 9 4
This is coming from an OS which leaves you in the lurch for minutes on end while it thinks how long it should take to crash

Aliases vs. Shortcuts 9 7
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!

Find/Search 9 7
You can tell that he's never used the Godawful search util that goes and finds loads of system files yet forgets to check My Documents

Applications, Adding and Removing 8 4
What's so hard about drag/drop compared to an install program that asks you loads and loads of spureous questions, and then won't uninstall properly (ie, leaves bits behind)

Web Serving 7 7
How can an OS that doesn't even have a webserver be on par with Apache

DVD Playback 9 4
Again, XP doesn't have an inbuilt DVD player (at least not last time I checked)

Networking 9 6
ROFLMAO. This guy's never tried networking with XP before

Backup 9 2
In X, it doesn't manage to create a file 5 times the size of the origional drive (it consistantly does that to my mother's PC)

Disk Cleanup 8 5
Disk Defragmenting 7 0
Cleanup/defrag - it cleans itself up automatically at 2AM (or summat like that) or on shutdown

File Permissions, Assigning 9 8
Last time I checked, XP doesn't have file permissions to assign

OS X does not include backup software
He's never used X. You can tell

On the servers, that PC'll probs need replacing once or twice every 5 yrs

1.6GHz bus
I've never seen a desktop with a 1.6Ghz FSB. Ever. That's partly because they don't exist

This guy needs to go back to ICT GCSE

True... the difference though, is that none of us here have a website where we post our biased rantings on the subject and expect people to believe it is useful information. And we definately don't have a forum where we reply to our own posts because no one takes the site seriously enough to join the message board :D

A large percentage of Windows users are hardly aware that Mac OS exists, even those with iPods have trouble believing that Mac OS X, or "iPod Windows" as my friend called it, even exists in this dimension... they live in ignorance (heh) and therefore bliss. Perhaps it's better this way.

Oh f*ck, I was browsing apfeltalk.de simultaneously and answered in German.. Well I just said that actually most of my friends who use solely consoles for gaming use Linux on their desktops to get the work done. Sadly most of the young population consist of gamers who need windows or people who don't want or wont learn anything new. :(

Ich verstand! ;)
