Stupid parents... stupid child.

i envision parents that are never around, too busy making massive amounts of money. Probably a single child, showered in expensive toys from parents trying to buy love. child nevertheless ungrateful.

i wonder if we can find out his parents email address and tell them. i think thats the only fair thing to do :)

BS

I second the motion to call this BS - I'd bet this is some PC bigot that got a hold of a defective G5 return to CompUSA or something and had some fun with it to get just this kind of reaction from "those mac wienies".

That said, it was like watching your favorite pet hit by a semi, wasn't it?

I´ve never seen mysef distressed

Post-op:
When I showed my friend, who happens to love Apple, he looked sick. He did not say anything to me. He just put his hands on his head and was in shock. I wish I had a picture of that.

No need for a picture. We do have mirrors.

In a word.....Wow

Well immediately I was going to at least condole this kids actions since his software is all PC based and he didn’t want to piss off his parents I mean….I mean….no…sorry. Stop. I can’t find any excuse for this. PC or Mac. Makes no difference to me. The fact is this uber ****tard ripped apart a $3,000 computer system. Holy freaking crap!!!! I can guarantee his parents when , not if but WHEN, they find out will take WAY greater offense to the fact that he pulled a freaking Jack the Ripper on a 3 grand purchase. I wonder what monitor they got him as well and then you add Applecare. Crap. I bet all told it was near $4,000

As someone pointed out VPC for the G5 will be out in a few months making everything other then gaming a moot point. I just can’t comprehend this ape’s thinking. He ripped it apart to: Fool his parents and for just the case. This makes absolutely NO sense at all. None. Zero.
Part of me hopes Steve Jobs sees this, freaks out, tracks down the order somehow, and contacts the parents giving them a stern talking too about how much of a brat they have.
I’ve got to agree with the majority here. What a freaking spoiled, over indulged, touched in the head, deprived of oxygen at birth, moronic dumb***. There are people that work their ***es off to afford such a computer and this little s*** has the balls to rip his gift to shreds. The only thing I liked out of his mod was the lighting but that is no excuse. Yep gotta call moron on this one. MORON I SAY MORON!!!

Oh the bright side reading through the various comments. Priceless entertainment. :D

somebody please....

tell me this isn't real...

I am saving my ass off for a dualie, an this guy can just throw his money away like that..

I'm gonna be sick..

This is a Stunt

It seems very unlikely to me that this story is as it has been presented. I am, of course, a skeptic. Here's what I think is a far more possible scenario. Imagine that you work for Dell (or Microsoft) and you want to stir up the macheads on the internet. You requisition a Dual G5, get the folks in PR to dream up a "spoiled rich kid" story and then have the dweebs in engineering schlock together a Frankenstein box from the gutted remains of Apple's pride and joy. Then plant the story on the internet and wait for the controversy to begin. What a perfect crime! Lots of free publicity and a new urban legend is born; "Hey, didja hear about the guy whose parents got him a Mac, but hated it so much that he gutted it and put a PC inside it to fool them when all he wanted was a Dell?" If that sounds impossible -- it probably is.

how many times have we ruined something only to regret it later?

Don't flame the guy or email him please.

Only doing so will validate his decision. This is obviously a cry for attention. Leave him be and hopefully he'll be kicking himself later on. Even if it takes a year or so that would be the most appropriate punishment.

Other than that it does seem like a pointless mod, a lot of wasted space fabrication and engineering. Did he gain any functionality of any sort?

Come on, that's almost as ridiculous as the case mod. They payed for the hardware, it's theirs, and they (or their kid) can do whatever he wants to it, no matter how idiotic. Hell, I spilled beer all over my nice new white G5 keyboard only a week after I got it. I was sitting on the couch the next day popping keys off with a screwdriver washing the sticky beer out of each of them. I would have loved it if Steve called me up to berate me for getting beer all over his lovely white G5 keyboard. I could have told him to get ****ed personally and to pull his head out of his ass and drop his prices by about 35% :)

This whole story is ****.Doesn't make any sense. If true (me thinks its a hoax) this guy must be biggest dumbass in whole solar system,or most spoiled brat that deserves beating.

A lesson to parents: talk to your children about what kind of present they would want for Christmas before you spend loads of money on them.

Fool. He practically sticky taped that thing in. He says it's the most well-made box he has ever seen, and then he does a rope and bubble-gum job on it?

Christ, it's a rough deal, hey?

just look at the use of language, the story, the pics...

no self respecting computer techie, regardless of OS alliance, would do that to a computer, if for nothing else but knowing the value of such a system...

i think this story is very real. it's too crazy NOT to be real. like a police officer that keeps victim's pictures on their desk, i will keep the link to that article in my favorites until the culprit is brought to justice.

i weep for you, dual g5. may your innards be in a peaceful place.

I'm suprised

maybe I'll be the one to break out of my shock, and I really did feel sick, to mention something I was suprised not to see mentioned...

He may not have said it, but I just bet he was bitter Apple decide to stick with PPC, and not put AMD chips inside...

all those photoshopped pictures have a new meaning...

This is really the most stupiest thing I have ever seen ! How can a single person be that stupid ? It is unbelievable. Is there any chance that its just Photoshoped ?I don't think so. But maybe. I cannot believe that someone really did that.
