yea because you are getting the premium version. Anyone else can get it for $5 a month with the premier league and everything else included or $10 a month without ads.

That isn't a bad price, depending on premium content. Certainly, HBO Max at $14.99 per month, is less appealing, especially if you're adding to Netflix or another subscription, just to have more sports.

I like that older TV series from the 1980s and 1990s are available, for free, but how many people like me just want the free version?

I only downloaded the app and created an account to watch EPL games last week as part of Championship Sunday. I took a look around and there really isn't anything appealing on there that would entice me to pay for it.

As I've mentioned in the past, I'm fine with Netflix, Hulu + Live TV, HBO Max and Prime Video (Netflix and HBO Max I get for free through iTunes gift cards I receive throughout the year).

They haven't come to agreements on revenue sharing for ad placements. Shame, because I have multiple Roku devices and am not buying a different box just to add a new service.
Oh, I didn’t realize revenue sharing on ads was a thing.

Same here; I’ve got a Fire TV stick and a Roku and I’ll be damned if I’m buying a third box for anything. (Unless I can get an Apple TV for half off or better. :))

9,990,000 are Comcast subscribers who get Peacock for free.

9,989,999 -- Just kicked Comcast/Xfinity to the curb for Fios. Surprisingly, they don't seem to be leveraging free Peacock as a reason to stay the same way Verizon is leveraging free Disney+ as a reason to switch. Not that either service should be a deciding factor for anyone...

tell us how many are Comcast subscribers getting peacock jammed down their throats
Having an option become available to use an optional service is somehow "jammed down their throats"?

HBO Max's numbers are impressive considering it is $15/mo, which might be the most expensive base plan out of all streaming services. Only a small number of people in specific situations get HBO Max free. Majority of Peacock subscriptions have been free.
From what I recall, HBO Max is free to customers of quite a few (cable/satellite) providers who already subscribe to HBO/Cinemax.

“Like HBO Max, Peacock is not available on Amazon Fire TV or Roku.”

Did I miss something a while back? Why aren’t those available on Fire TV or Roku?
No idea. It annoys me too and is the reason we didn't go past the Max trial. Get it fine on ATV in bedroom, but only get the crappy watered down app on our Roku TV in the living room. So I guess no reason to even check out Peacock then either.

I signed up on my iPhone, then couldn’t get it to work on Apple TV, so I made a 2nd account through Apple TV. So I’m 2 of those 10 million.

And this is why there's 7 million different streaming services.
Yea might as well just get cable again since the cable part of the sub is less than every streaming apps' subs combined

Exactly. Not getting another ATV for the living room.

I installed this on my ATV since it had a free tier.... and I can tell you... its worth every cent I paid for it...
I spent maybe 10 minutes looking at the content... then left and havent bothered going back...

And do they pull that BS like Hulu did where you get excited about a certain old sitcom, but then the few episodes you really liked were conveniently missing but you could pay for them?

Just another subscriber number pump and dump going on. Remember with Direct TV Now did this? They lured everyone in with free hardware (Apple TV) and like 90% of them bailed when the terms were fulfilled.

Comcast is a ****** company and this is very much fake news. Nobody is going to pay for "Peacock" on it's own lol. Another house of cards for investors to go nuts over.

I'm not seeing it yet, but then, I haven't seen that situation while watching content in Hulu. I'll look for it, though.

I was extremely disappointed that Peacock does not include MSNBC, they only include a lame "NBC News Now" channel. They used to put full video of the MSNBC evening news shows on Apple Podcasts, I could automatically download them and watch them the next day. But now they only have an audio podcast of the shows, and one clip in full video (usually the "A Block"). I guess NBC decided the News Division product was too expensive to give away for free. I would gladly upgrade to an inexpensive paid tier just to get MSNBC, but obviously News Division is not on board.
No thanks, there is already too much fake news.

Whether you like it or not, all of these individual streaming providers have one thing that Apple TV+, doesn't have... content.

Peacock has some good content, but I've seen it all the stuff I want already before it got pulled off Netflix.

I would objectively choose ATV+ over Peacock right now.

Purchased strictly for the Premier League. It was also only $30 for the first year if you signed up early enough...a measly $2.50 a month.

Four words in favor of Peacock that instantly negate all arguments against it. 😉

It seems like Apple TV+ fan boys forget this. Apple just doesn't have the value at the moment. They would have done so much better paying for streaming content up front so the had a huge catalog for people to watch and then have apple exclusive movies and TV shows. This is the only reason Netflix became so popular is huge preexisting content they had available. I'm not saying Apple TV isn't good. It's just it is the ONLY streaming service asking you to pay that doesn't have a large catalog to go with in house content. The value is just not there because of this.

Update: This article has been updated to make clearer that the count includes users on both free and paid tiers.

I paid for it. At least on a 1st month. Love the Capture and paid specifically for rewarding that.

it's free. how many people are actually paying for peacock? how many people will still be paying after a year. right now it is a new shiny thing that attracts people. it is a marathon not a sprint.
