I had a Pebble years ago, but drop it for a classical watch as I became older.

As always, a smart tech done way before Apple, but for once its new iteration is way better than the ugly Apple Watch.

I might purchase one although the design is not perfect, it still looks 10x better and has 2 days battery with quick charge.

First off, I couldn't disagree with you more on the Pebble looking 10x better. Not meaning to diss you at all, as tastes in design are subjective, but I would surmise you're in a very small percentage of people. I think the Pebbles look hideous. But that's not why I'm commenting. You said a quick charge provides 2 days of battery power. That's incorrect. A 15 minute charge provides 1 day of battery power, per their claims.

Clocks are made to be round. Period. That's why Apple Watch is so ugly in my eyes. Moto 360 is the best looking of all watches i have seen.

My irrelevant opinion says it's the ugliest smartwatch I've ever seen. But hey to each his own. If you think it's awesome then don't let people like me tell you other wise
It is truly quite ugly. It seems there are no talented industrial designers on staff. I had a Pebble...thought it ok but limited. Sold it...never looked back.

Dear lord. The design on this just screams second-tier jewellery. There are several stores near my place that have these rotating displays with QQ watches and imitation ICE watches. The way these are designed they would fit in that display perfectly.

This is not for me.
It is alas a turkey full of hormones trying desperately to plump it up to be more attractive. I doubt even Stevie Wonder would want this.

I don't get it. Pebble just launched two new watches this year. Why are they not putting these dollars into marketing and enhancing the Time and Time Steel instead of pushing out this half baked thing? This seems like a bad management decision.

I think it's because the Steel was selling so poorly they had to introduce something new. The Apple Watch has a very compelling and fashionable design, the Steel looked like something only geeks wear.

I really like the appeal the original Pebble has, but somehow I'm not interested in the second and now third edition.

Not that I care much about either product, but aren't they both water resistant? This new pebble claims to be resistant to only a splash from what I read... Not what I would want in a daily watch.
It's not ideal for me either. I wear my Pebble to the pool, so I'd like to know the actual depth this new one is certified for. I don't mind taking out cheap disposable tech that is "splash resistant" and having them break on me in the pool, but once you're looking at smartwatch prices then I'm living by the guidelines!

I get a week out of my Pebbles (they're not Steels). That, the greater water resistance (I kayak with them), and the lower price are the points of preference for me.
2 years later and I still get a weeks battery life from a single charge too. (from my Kickstarter Pebble)

...Sounds like you're more of a Pebble fanboy than I am a fan of Apple.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Odd sexual stuff aside, I like all wearable tech. The Pebble is just the one that currently does what I want it to. And I find it funny that even suggesting that the AW doesn't have the right features for me brings out the fanboys. Out of all the wearables I've bought over the years the only one I use daily is a Nike Fuelband (would really like Apple's fitness suite to have some social aspect to it. They'll get there eventually).

I think it's because the Steel was selling so poorly they had to introduce something new. The Apple Watch has a very compelling and fashionable design, the Steel looked like something only geeks wear.

I agree. I like steel watches, but the styling was off. It is chunky and the quality of the steel was very low (very low grade, dark grey brushed steel). I also think they overdid the complexity of the band. The design was far too busy. Look at an Omega or Rolex, they have simple attractive bands that are well proportioned and detailed. Contrast that with the Pebble Steel or some of the Tag Heuers, which in my opinion try to do far too much with their busy designs.

For those that like it, I hope Apple adds a round version in the future, however I prefer square watches.

Be aware that the tag line for the site is, MacRumors News and rumors you care about . There has been lots of interest in pebble on this site, says well as discussion on other smart wearables. Personally, I am fine with seeing discussion and articles like this.

Doesn't that make it iOS news, as an accessory? Sometimes I really question the things that end up on front page and other important things that get relegated to the iOS page

The bezel is gross. Looks like a cheaper version of a Moto360. No wonder it's so thin, they squeezed all the components in under that massive bezel.
on first glimpse the larger bezel looks more a fashion way, not bad …

The three best qualities of this watch is that is thin, round and always on. To get these qualities they compromised by making the bezel bigger than the display, using e-ink, and reducing the battery size. The initial glance at the picture was attractive, but in looking at it in more detail, I am not sure if these compromises are good long term.

I love my square Apple Watch and I truly believe that it is better than the pebble. However, it seems that pebble is going to try to win by staying cheaper than the Apple Watch through compromises. Long term I do not see this as a willing formula, but as a pioneer in the smart watch area, I do hope they find and hold their niche.

I know you're just joking but suicide jokes aren't really funny when you think about it....

I think it's more of an generational mentality.

When I was growing up, Coyote could get hit by an anvil chasing Road Runner, Yosemite Sam could shoot Daffy Duck's head off, Gonzo would shoot himself from a cannon in Muppet Show, 'Blazing Saddles' would make someone dance by shooting the ground near their feet... it was all funny and not meant literally. These were things you would never do.

Now, people take things too literally.

Then why not just get an analog watch? I mean how cool will it look when the display is showing anything but the time?

That's what is cool about it. Most people will just think it's a regular watch, because that's what it will look like, right up until you get a notification. It's very unobtrusive and doesn't stand out like you have a tiny computer on your wrist.

1)I am not an Apple fanboy
2)I do not like the Apple Watch...pretty stylish but far too many reasons for me not to purchase (which I've listed in an older thread).
3)These Pebbles are ugly. REALLY ugly in my opinion. For me (and a good % of consumers), a watch must look nice and stylish...this is just as important as it's primary goal of telling time.
