LOL.

Is this real life!?

Wait a week in a line in a mall for a phone! People are nuts.

Local mall has 8 people in line right now.

exactly either professional line standers OR they missed the preorder and don't want to wait some even until November to get the phone.

Those people make decent money sitting in line. If you don't already have a job, then why not. The longer the line on launch day, the more money you can make giving up that spot.

People are in line already for next week..

Some started last week, before the announcement.

The line started at one of the NYC stores a week before the announcement. The #2 guy in line was #1 but he sold his spot for $2500. You'd think they were only making 5 phones!

Or could it be that these new iPhones are truly incredible and that is driving more people to get in line early to make sure they are on board on launch day?

I'd consider doing this myself if I hadn't already pre-ordered my devices for delivery. There is no shame in it. This is far more important than just a phone.

They're making more than 5 phones?
I'd line sit for $10 per hour but I'm retired and have no life. 24x10x7=it boggles the mind.

Just makes me dread next week at my job. Having to deal with all these crazed apple iNuts who'll surely have no problem knocking down an old lady if it means getting the fruit phone. Gonna be the longest 12hr shift ever

Let them wait, if they did pre order, we still be waitng for the apple site to come up, remember what happen this morning? Besides that's our entertainment while we wait for our orders to be delivered.

You only get to be first in line once for an iPhone launch.

I did the overnight thing when the iPhone 5 was released. The store is in my local mall (Providence). I was #3. I have to say, it was actually a really good/fun experience. Everyone was nice and friendly. You could get up and walk around without worrying about someone stealing your spot. Nothing like going to a Black Friday sale. Then walking out of the store, thrusting my phone box into the air and hearing everyone cheer, it was great! I wouldn't mind doing that again. I wouldn't sit there for days or longer though.

I don't understand why people are doing this, is it because lack of devices or they just want to be the very first?
Normally, if I go to the local Apple Store in launch day(maybe in the afternoon), will there be enough devices?

Sometimes, sometimes not. I might go with the Next program. If so, I'm eligible for an upgrade now so I might camp out Thursday night so I can grab one Friday morning.

This is what worries me if I decide to wait in line myself. I been thinking early Thursday but I really think it's too late by then.
