As soon as y'all put a case it, it'll be no different than having a Pro Max again, no?
People who use cases are probably gonna use a case regardless which phone they have. So the weight and thinness advantage of the Air is still going to be the same. And even if they would have skipped a case on the Pro Max, an Air case would have to weigh 70 grams and be 3.2 mm thick for that phone to reach the same bulk. That would be one chonker of a case.

Assuming the PM has no case then, yes, with the average case they will be similar thickness. If that’s what you’re getting at. That said, even with a case it should still be WAY lighter than any PM without one.

16 Pro Max

I’m still torn between the Air and the 17 Pro Max.

I pre-ordered both, cancelled the Air, but now I’m tempted to go back to it.

I’ll make my final decision after checking out the Air in person at the Apple Store on the 19th.

16 Pro to Air for me
iPhone XR - so basically everything will be better spec-wise, and I am already very happy with my XR.
That will be a great upgrade in every way!

Significantly thinner device with tiny bezels.

And a few others… 🤩😃

A12 chip >> A19 Pro

12mp main >> 48mp

7mp selfie >> 18mp

6.1” LCD display >> 6.5” 120hz OLED

3gb RAM >> 12gb

It’ll be interesting to hear how you find the upgrade!

Yep, don’t think I will be disappointed - the only potential downside is the mono speaker - but it’s not like I listen to hi-fi music on an iPhone anyway!

All these current Pro Max users moving onto a mono speaker is just baffling to me.

Yes, I will be very sad when I hear my notifications in mono those few times I have my phone out of silent mode. It would be very worth it lugging around an extra 60 grams in my pocket att all times to get stereo notifications in those few situations.

That’s specific to you. The majority of iPhone users take full advantage of the stereo speakers.

Doubt it, I’d assume people use headphones for applications where they care about audio quality.
Mate, do you really not realize how often we use our stereo speakers?

Playing games.
Watching any sort of video content.
Video chats.
Audio calls.
Music & podcasts.

If you don't care, fine, but please don't act like stereo speakers aren't vitally important for the majority of consumers.

I don’t know anyone that does that, the only people I ever see using the speakers are annoying kids on public transport.

If you are going to claim that most people do things like listen to music through their phone speakers and not headphones you have to provide some data for that, because that is a wild claim.

Do you really believe that the average consumer finds a second tiny speaker, adding a few inches of stereo separation and some extra volume, absolutely essential to their life?

If the overall sound quality of the Air is absolute crap, I'm 100% with you, but that's yet to be seen. It's not like people don't happily use mono bluetooth speakers all the time.

Plenty of people listen to music and podcasts on their iPhone speakers in their homes. Myself included.

And like I said in my last post, just about everyone uses their speakers for watching video content, video chats with others, playing games, speaker chats.

Yes I absolutely do. The difference between mono and stereo speakers is night and day mate on an iPhone.

Bluetooth speakers are going to absolutely blow away the sound quality of a mono iPhone speaker. That's an absurd comparison.

11 pro max. Time to retire this great phone. For me, the only major thing it’s got missing is promotion. Otherwise it still holds up really well.

I’ll probably be picking black or gold air. Love the form factor, I think the battery won’t be as bad as people think. It should be only a little worse than 15 pro.

Give me data for these claims, I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that uses their phone speakers over headphones for that.

I also don’t see how the Airs speaker quality would be an issue for someone that obviously don’t care about audio quality since they are fine listening to the terrible phone speakers in the first place.

You seriously need me to provide data that consumers use their iPhone speakers to listen to media among all the others things I've listed? LMAO.

Look mate, if it works for you, awesome. But let's stop acting like the majority of iPhone users don't appreciate the stereo sound that we've had for nine years.

16 Pro to Air…can’t wait to try out the new form factor. The camera is a concern, so if it proves too disappointing then I will just buy a 17 Pro. I’ve no concerns over battery life.

Yes I need you to provide data for your claim that a majority of consumers use the phone speakers instead of headphones for those things. That's how discussions work, you make a claim about what the majority does and you show the data to support it.

Just pulling claims out our asses doesn't hold any value.

Hey man, I'm really tired of this back and forth and quite honestly this idea that I have to back up something so obvious and known with 'data' is simply utterly ridiculous.

Do you think the majority of people watch iPhone videos (of any sort) at home wearing headphones? I don't.

Do you think the majority of people that engage in video chats at home wear headphones? I don't.

Do you think everyone plays games with headphones? I know they don't.

Do people ever engage with speaker phone calls on their iPhone? Of course they do.

Do people listen to music and podcasts at home without feeling the need to use headphones or a speaker? Of course they do.

I am not 'pulling claims out of my ass'. I am simply stating things that just about any sane or rational human would understand in the first place. Cheers forever.

So you just pulled it out your ass, great to know it held no weight.

But that's why you are surprised by us going from the Pro Max phones to the Air, you assume the generalisation you pulled out your ass is true without anything to support it.
