People mistaking iPhone SE as better than 6s

Well, I've been a long time Android user who recently switched to the iPhone 6s Plus. I have to say, Apple has come a long, long way in terms of software. It finally is a better experience than Android in almost every way, especially considering all the hidden features. Apple should continue developing software. The iPhone SE lacks 3D Touch, the biggest leap in the iOS User interface. The thought crossed my mind on getting the SE over the 6s Plus, but I have to say, 3D Touch is revolutionary and very innovative.

People are too stupid to realize what the se is meant for and just assume that its the next iPhone. Thats ehy everyone thinks that apple is going back to a smaller screen size.

Well for some people it will be better due to its smaller size and design. They are all the same anyway SE, 6S, 6S plus. It doesn't matter which one you have/get. You have a high end iPhone. Just enjoy your device and don't worry about what others think.

I don't know why this is bothering me but a lot of people are thinking that the SE is supposed to be an upgrade to the 6s. I know some people like the SE better than the 6s because it is smaller and better for them, but some people at school today legitimately thought that the 6s is now inferior to the SE and you should get it if you want the latest model instead of the 6s. Again, I know the SE may be better to some people, but some people think it is the upgraded model from the 6s
Didn't we just have this discussion already?

People at school were talking about the "new iPhone" like it was way better phone than the 6s. I'm not sure why but it really bothers me when people have the wrong information.

Reading between the lines... You sound a little insecure. Learn to be satisfied in knowing what you are using is good for you and stop relying on what others think about it. It's ok that your phone is not the newest release. People won't think any less of you. It'll still work. There will always be someone who has better toys than you. Get used to it.

They sound like a child. I'm guessing high school since most college students refer to school as class.

School? So children then?

Don't listen to what children say, they literally know nothing.

I am hopeful that 3D Touch does make it into the iPhone SE2 or whatever it is called next Spring.

Totally agree with you. I really think the next SE is one I will get. If they add 3D Touch and refine the screen and button solidity, I'll be all over it. I personally feel like my 6S had a decent improvement in build quality over my 6. Hopefully the same thing will happen with the SE.

Of course, my preference would be for the 7 or 7S to shrink the bezels and have 4.7" screens. If 3D Touch can take the place of the home button, it would be awesome!

I feel like what you're saying is more true than not, as a lot of people look for just the slightest tint of yellow and exclaim it to the world. However, an iPhone with a yellow screen definitely happens more often than not. Before I returned my iPhone 6 (performance was not good enough for me) I had messed with it side by side another 6 in the T-Mobile store and noticed my screen was quite a bit more yellow than that model. It wasn't terrible, but noticeable. My wife has the 5s and that thing is noticeably yellow without any comparison needed. She doesn't really care of course so I leave it be, but gracious that thing is bad!

That's what I mean - there's going to be some variation across different panels just due to the nature of the technology, and it comes down to how sensitive you are to it, or if you end up with a panel that is uneven enough to notice.

Thus, I think the idea that it's a widespread problem with screens is overblown. It's just the way that these sorts of displays are. It's the same sort of problem with backlight bleeding on IPS panels - it's fundamentally a function of how the display works and there's no real way to eliminate it entirely, only to minimise it but still have it evident if you do a forced max-brightness-dark-room-black-background-shot-with-phone-camera-on-auto benchmark style test that makes it look like you have spotlights coming out of the screen edges.

If the phone you buy has an uneven display that you can't live with then definitely swap it out. In mass production you will always have some lemons, but overall I think it's a non-issue.

Are you an 6s owner ?

It's also one of the hardest things in life not to succumb to.

By the way, what book of C.S. Lewis' is that from or is it from a letter or something?

Agreed! I struggle daily with it but always have that quote in the forefront of my mind!

Good question, I always assumed C.S. Lewis but a quick internet search reveals it's attributed to Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Edwards, or C.S. Lewis. I'd have to dig further to find out. I read quite a bit of Lewis' books in college (~10 years ago) so I can't quite recall if I read it directly or not.

I'm not saying that I'm insecure about my iPhone, I'm just bothered by why people think Apple is going back to the smaller design forever because they think the SE is supposed to be an upgrade. I have a 6s and it is technically better than the SE in terms of things like front facing camera, barometer, and other things. Personally, I think the SE has a better looking design, but I like the screen size of the 6s and 3D Touch. The people in my school thought this was Apple's release for 2016 and the next iPhone is coming 2017 also with the same design. I'm sorry if my wording was confusing.

Yeah I'm a 6s owner.

So basically you don't like seeing people blindly following and talking about something without knowing the whole story - is that more accurate?

Yeah, really bothers me when people give each other the wrong information when talking to each other

To some the "SE" IS the better phone. It depends on what you are looking for in a phone. Some want a compact size and value portability over the other features.

If portability is your priority then the SE is an upgrade over your 6S.

You said you don't know why you're bothered by people thinking the SE is better than your 6S... The elders with life experience are telling you why you felt that way. Not a dig on you but simply offering you an outsiders point of view.

I think some of us elders might have (understandably) misunderstood the original post. I don't think he's bothered by others thinking the SE is BETTER than the 6S - i.e. I don't think he's insecure.

I think he's bothered by others thinking that, conceptually, the SE is Apple's next "big thing" - i.e. it's filling the gap of the iPhone 7 rather than the niche that the SE holds. I think the OP is simply a slave to truth and, like me, can't stand hearing misinformation being spread among ignorance. ;)

You pretty much got it right.

Starting to look that way, but this is just another path to an unhappy life. All you can really do, if you're part of the conversation, is to cheerfully provide the correct information and suggest they double check what they heard with the source (Apple).

Unfortunately, this is just a small preview of things to come when dealing with friends, coworkers, strangers, corporations, governments, pretty much everyone you encounter in life. Often, challenging someone with the truth will just make them defensive and strengthen their conviction that they have it right. You really do have to let them make the journey to truth on their own. Otherwise, you end up at a Trump rally! :)
