But you were comparing a streaming version to a download version. That makes a huge difference.

My download bought version of stuff from Amazon sounds a lot better than the samples you can play from Amazon selection. I do find it funny you entire argument was based on the SAMPLE.

As I said very different system. Amazon choose to save bandwidth. You are comparing 2 very different streaming system. It is not an Apple to Apple comparision. you are pulling from the samples.

The fact that your entire argument is based off the preview samples should speak volumes to how worthless it is.

Is there really that much difference between paying $1.29 and 99 cents?

If you have $20, you can buy 15.5 songs on Itunes
or 20.2 songs on Amazon MP3.


It adds up overtime.

I now use both, I use to only do Amazon when itune songs were at 128 and doing that '+plus' crap but now that they are all 256 I use them. Being a DJ I can surely hear a major difference between 128 and a 256 less so from 256 to 320 that I get from CD pools.

Or you can go see for yourself. Just counted, 14 of the top 20 songs are priced at $0.99. They are sold at $1.29 on Itunes.

Strangely enough, I usually find iTunes Store gift cards sold with a 20% rebate. Haven't paid full price for ages. Which means even if the official price is higher on iTunes, I still pay less.

And of course their price is not always higher. One audiobook for my wife was £4.99 on iTunes and £9.99 at Amazon.

A very large majority of Amazon top 50 songs are priced at $0.99 compare to Itunes $1.29.

That's a statistical failure known as "sample bias". Songs that are priced lower are more likely to get into the top 50.

Count me among the 15% who buy most of their music on Amazon MP3.🙄

BTW - more recently Amazon digital albums ARE coming with digital booklets, so that advantage iTunes had is over.

Also I can't tell any difference between AAC and Amazon's high bitrate MP3s.

Well, I prefer CDs over both. But some people are happy to pay more for less as long as marketing tells them it's "the future". 🙄

This. If I do not buy CD I do buy from iTunes however. iTunes is higher quality and you can redownload again free if you lose the files.

I'm one of those who still prefers CDs over both.

Moreover, some of my musical preferences are pretty obscure, and that is easier to source on CD (including used CD) than on either Amazon or iTunes.
