I know many people from my community, family and friends who never eat eggs because they believe eggs are unborn chicks and they contain animal parts including nails, eyes and other parts of chicks. Some believe they contain embryo and many other reasons.

Sometimes i found blood or black round stuff when i break eggs, what are they ? Anyone here never eat eggs?

Is that a new trend, not eating eggs?
I guess they shouldn't Google balut. :D

Perspective, in my country (Indonesia), meats are expensive. Eggs have become a main staple for protein source for many as they are inexpensive (compared to meat) and easy to prepare as a side dish in addition to rice/noodles.

I use to like eggs a lot but lately started to feel bit awkward . Sometimes what you find inside them doesn't look right.

Please do not google "balut." :D

It did happen to me only once , but the chook was greenish with tiny pumps , my mother almost vomited. The eggs were from this Turkish store. Not a big deal it was once, but most times you worriy if they contain embryo.

They don't contain that, at least not in any proper "western industrial" type of an operation.

But once you start realising how the hens are treated, and start to realise what happens to the males born into that whole industry of using chickens for food… It's not pretty.

I'm doing my best to go full vegan (I have a problem with completely giving up cheese, and there are some chocolates with milk that I'm nostalgic about) simply because once you look into it you'll understand how much any and all animals are like us, with feelings and personalities; and then it's very hard to in any way accept any part of the industries of using animals to give us food.

We don't need to use animals for us to stay healthy; so their suffering that we either accept or ignore is unnecessary, it's there just for our pleasure.

Aye. There is a huge difference between eggs and balut. Eggs are unfertilized, baluts are fertilized. You can incubate an egg for ever and nothing will hatch from it.

That said, baluts are a delicacy. Like all delicacy, it's an acquired taste. In other words, yuck🤮 when you first eat it, but eat enough you'll start liking it. I ate caviar once. Never again. Acquired taste indeed. It tasted like salty jelly to me.🤮

I like duck balut.😋 Of course I didn't like it at first, but since my wife liked it so much, I soldiered on until I started liking it too. Fear Factor, bring that it on. I'll win any gross out eating competition they can throw at me, as long as no caviar is involved.😅

I think supermarkets eggs are ok overall but home or backyard laid eggs we need to be bit careful. The blood and other stuff you found in some eggs still bother me though.

The OP’s opening post has a bit of absurdity involved, but none of which I want to dispute into the PRSI avenue.

I probably have consumed more eggs than anybody in this thread, I average a dozen eggs a day in my diet, that’s strictly for bodybuilding (I start with five during the day and end off with seven post workout). One of the reasons, is that you need the protein/fat source from the whites and nuclei to help build muscle, which eating eggs regularly also is believed to support/boost healthy testosterone levels.

For a while, I bought organic eggs, which does have a difference in terms of texture and the egg seems ‘fuller,’ and a bit more dense. But overall, I haven’t noticed a difference from your typical grade ‘A’ store-bought eggs. Also, we have a local farmer who also was basically giving eggs away, which I accepted a few in the years past, and they were amazing, with no issues or any ‘debris’ inside the egg.

Of all the protein sources I consume, I rank eggs at the top, because they are quick digesting and your body can assimilate those quick for energy.

I think eggs are a vital part of someone’s daily diet if they can obviously incorporate them, but they have so many tangible benefits, but I do not consume them raw.

Lastly, what I really enjoy about eggs, is the versatility. I make mine probably four different ways, and that’s strictly to not constantly eat them the same way, otherwise you do burn out.

most people are pretty confused about the health benefits of eggs. They may be better than junk food but in general they are pretty bad for you. Here's a ton of science on the issue if you're interested in the facts. https://nutritionfacts.org/?s=Eggs . Since most chickens are kept in horrific factory farm conditions they are also cruel. They are also pretty bad from an environmental perspective. They are also implicated in many pandemics and many of the world's influenza outbreaks have their origins in chicken operations. You can get all the protein you need from plant sources btw. It's a myth that you need animal products at all. Actually the converse is the case as humans are actually apes and all apes are plant eaters principally which explains why humans suffer from heart disease and cancer the more animal products they eat. humans, unlike most animals, will die without vitamin c from plants. Fyi, if you think you need animal product to be a body builder you are wrong. https://gamechangersmovie.com/

The owner of that website, Michael Greger, is very biased. I used to follow him but then I stopped after he said a few things that I knew weren't true. There was a study that claimed eggs were bad for you, but many health and nutritional experts have weighed in on the study, pointing out its multiple flaws. The study claim eggs caused issues by raising your cholesterol, but higher egg intake was actually related to lower LDL (so-called “bad” cholesterol associated with CVD). So there is a clear contradiction with the findings. There have been several meta-analyses that have also refuted the claim that egg consumption raises your risk for CVD. The bottom line is that eggs contain valuable vitamins and minerals, including selenium, vitamins B2 (riboflavin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B7 (biotin) and B12, protein, iodine (many people are low in this), plus vitamin D, zinc, omega-3 fats, lutein, zeaxanthin and choline. There is no way that those vitamins and minerals are bad for your health, in fact, just the opposite.
