I don't think being "nitpicky" for a product that you paid a lot of money for is unreasonable. I work very hard for my money and expect to get the most for what I spend it on.

Could you give us an example of something which would be unreasonable?
 
Mine is superb, the only thing wrong with the iPad 2 is the people who whine about it, if there isn't something to complain about they invent something and say it affects 100% of them, same with all the 27" iMacs that had screen issues :rolleyes:

Mac rumors inverse law of issues, the more people whining about something the less likely it is to matter/exist. ;)
 
It's not the fact that the bleeding shows up when viewing it on a black background for me it's the fact that it shows up when watching films as most films have black bars at the top and bottom you can see it then and it's off putting when your watching it and can see the bleeding.

I also don't know about anyone else but I don't watch films with the light on if I did then it wouldn't bother me.
 
Everybody does. But there is a difference between a perfectly working product and a perfect product. Perfection is a materialistic concept, not a reality. Everything (I repeat, EVERYTHING) has imperfections, whether it be man-made or nature/God-made. A slightly crooked home button or light bleed that one can only see in a dark room at midnight with a blackened screen and one eye closed while standing on one foot with your tongue stuck out (okay, I added a couple of things for comedic effect) is hardly a product flaw but a bit of an obsessive condition by the owner. No one's trying to dismiss true issues, but some of the complaints in this forum have just been unreasonable at best.

Oh I agree with you 100%. Nothing is perfect and some things are beyond trivial. I also understand that we want top notch products at the lowest possible price and it's not a realistic demand. But the computer industry is notorious for having a "Release it now and patch it later." type attitude and I think we are starting to accept that too readily. Sometimes we are far too forgiving of these companies who take our money.

i guess just like everything else in life, there are gives and takes and extemes in both cases. I'm not going to complain over a tiny bit of bleed that I will never notice, but I'd be the first in line for a replacement if it was a physical flaw, as it's something that would drive me crazy. :)

Overall, for me at least, the iPad 2 has substantially less light bleed than the first gen. I purchased 6 different iPads (for fiance, family, etc.). Every single one of them have had light bleed that was glaringly obvious in a well-lit room at 50% brightness!

I've purchased 4 iPad 2's and on three of them, the light bleeding has been almost invisible at 50% brightness, which makes me a happy camper.

I've gotten one iPad 2 that was a complete dud-- weird squishy volume button, obnoxious green stuck pixels (that strobed-- so annoying!), and backlight bleeding that was impossible to ignore.

In my opinion, 75% isn't bad.
