It looks cool, but I dont think it would last, my iPhone 5 after 8 months has silver bits along the edges at the back. shame really

I can tell their anodising method is better now than when the 5 was first released. I got my iPhone 5 couple days after release, it wore away from being in my pocket with nothing else. It was replaced about a month ago and is still flawless.

As far as I know, they anodize every metal part of the device (top case, bottom case, display lid), and replace every plastic part with the color of your choice. Including touchpad and apple logo.

That is entire device.

Too expensive...

I thought this thread and topic was a joke at first, but now that I think of it, you may be some to something here. I think a Black MacBook Pro would look hot too. That would be a great change personally.

I'm not saying a black Mac won't ever happen again, but associating pro software with a black background is nothing new. I remember back in 2008 they did the same.

In fact, it seems Apple puts a black background for anything expensive. The original iPhone and iPod touch were presented on a black background, so was the original MacBook Air, and now the rMBPs are too in ads.

It doesn't affect the color of hardware though. The Black MacBook was lower end than a MacBook Pro. The iPad mini is also offered in all black despite being lower end than the iPad 4.

You can keep hoping for a black MBP but I think the theory you've got there proves nothing.

Black makes oil and dirt show a lot more than aluminum. The black MacBooks did look nice but I'm not sure how I'd feel about Apple bringing that color back.

Didn't apple say they tried to make a black macbook but didn't because the finish wore too quickly? I hope they figured that out.... I want a black computer (I was/am actually trying to powder coat my macbook black or some other color)

They also tried making a white iPhone 4 for a long time without success before releasing it.

I think the black=pro idea has merit.

Dell don't seem to have an issue making black machines (yes, different materials, I know).

The NEXT machines were black also.

Not saying i 100% believe it will happen, but it would not surprise me if it did.

Apple put the BlackBook on sale in 2008, last year it was sold. Perhaps its was a sale strategy?

Maybe a bang and olufsen speakers in the high end to suit the audiophile.

Seriously?
Do you really think audiophiles listen to music on a laptop?
Do you think that is possible to make a laptop speaker sound good?

Actually, do you even know what an audiophile is?
Hint: is someone who spends ridiculous amounts of money to get the perfect sound. Just to put that in perspective: the cables/powerstrip/rack from my audio system costs more than a macbook. Much more.

Do you really think audiophiles care about a stupid laptop speaker?
Saying that an audiophile cares about a laptop speaker is as stupid as saying that a photographer cares about a laptop webcam.

Please, don't insult us with your audiophile bang and olufsen laptop speaker.
You have no idea what you're talking about.

if they release a black rmbp this fall. I'm going to flip. i dont care about the haswell battery savings. but i most definitely care about and alllll black rmbp!!!

i like your thinking OP, it never crossed my mind b4

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Just to clarify, an audiophile is willing to spend $400 on high end audio cables alone. And then 10 grand for an amp!

Personally, I'm tired of black. The entire Western world wants black computer and phones. Give me colors, white, or leave the alu as it is now.
The eastern world prefers more white electronics and for me it's more 'fresh'.

There's no reason to insult somebody for calling themselves an audiophile. There is no 'definition' of audiophile that fits exactly what you describe. According to Webster dictionary its defined as "a person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction". Nowhere does it mention $$. So please get off your high horse.

Thing is, it did fine. I still see people with these blackbooks and they are still going strong on ebay. I think if they did it with a unibody it would look great!

If they're on eBay they didn't do that well, did they?! If they hold their value well it's because not as many sold. The number of the white version sold dwarfed the black one.

Just to point out, white and black aren't colours :)

I would drive back home from college to list and sell my current retina macbook pro and pray to Steve for forgiveness if an aluminum rMBP came out.

And how the hell a cheap system can reproduce good sound?
It's not possible.
I wish it was.

Right. And you need two amps. :)
