I feel those locked in a contract deserve no discount. This has been tirelessly discussed and the fact that people think owning an iPhone makes them exempt to rules is ridiculous.

Where do you place your John Hancock? Here: http://twitition.com/j5lg6

Thanks for your time.

Now everybody is just going petition happy...thats not even a petition. That is a statement and you are hoping people agree with you so you can shove it other people's faces. Definition of petition from dictionary.com: a formally drawn request, often bearing the names of a number of those making the request, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority or power, soliciting some favor, right, mercy, or other benefit: a petition for clemency; a petition for the repeal of an unfair law.

+1 I bought my phone a year ago and I don't expect AT&T to pay for me to get a new one so soon, haha. I'll wait another year.

A petition against...another petition. I just hope they don't fight this petition with another petition.

It also needs to be rewritten,

"we the undersigned petition iPhone complainers to (?) AT&T should NOT give people currently in contract iPhone upgrade discouns (sp)!"

Is this addressed to the iPhone complainers or ATT???

I signed it.

So sick of the sense of entitlement of these people. You signed a contract, now live up to it or pay the price they charge. What's so wrong with that?

If ATT caves, just wait until the 2010 iPhone. It will be even worse.

It is a petition. It's asking AT&T not to give you greed guys a discount price. Which in my opinion is well founded considering 2-year contract has rules you agreed to and one of those were not to bitch about pricing.

No, their system butchered my title, I did spell it right, it just got cut off.

I suppose its more of a twitition, which doesn't need to abide by the same rules as a petition.

Not too many signatures on that petition, but I totally agree, they dont deserve that big of a discount, I just signed a two year to get a 3G but that was 2 weeks ago and they are letting me exhange mine and picking up a 3Gs.

Signed. People sign a contract for two years and they suddenly want to back out? Screw them. Man up and pay the money or work the system. No way in hell you are entitled to a discount price. I wish the phones were never subsidized and that way the exclusivity would still be there. Instead, we have every idiot with $200 walking around with an iPhone because it is fashionable and not because they utilize its capabilities. Makes me sick!

I get so annoyed by the conflicting views on this.

It seems that it's ok to tell someone who bought a previous Macbook or Macbook Pro that they should be happy with their laptop and understand that technology changes and they still have a very capable laptop.

BUT... turn that around and put an iPhone in place of the Macbook and all of a sudden people think it's unfair to be told you have to pay again for a newer device.

These people entered into a contract, got an iPhone at a subsidized price and agreed to the same thing that anyone else getting any other subsidized phone would have to agree to. Then 2, 4, 6, 12 months later, far short of their 2 year agreement they feel that just because a newer model is available they should be allowed to get it, and get it for a subsidized price. BS!

It should be:
  • You buy an Apple laptop and a few months later a newer one comes out, oh well.
  • You buy an iPhone and a few months later a newer one comes out, oh well.

Enjoy what you bought. If you want a newer model, buy it at the regular price.

This is coming from someone who did buy a unibody Macbook in February 2009 and will continue to use it.

why does everyone always get so online petition happy?

Oh we want AT&T to give us cheaper phones, Let's make a petition.

Oh, we are pissed people want something for nothing, let's make a petition.

Stop wasting time, and stop worrying about what other people are doing.
