why does everyone always get so online petition happy?

Oh we want AT&T to give us cheaper phones, Let's make a petition.

Oh, we are pissed people want something for nothing, let's make a petition.

Stop wasting time, and stop worrying about what other people are doing.

No. I'm bored. And I didn't even know that goofy petition thing existed until I saw this one, and I said "oh hell no", snapped my fingers twice, said "uh uh", and made my own.

I totally agree with you. A contract is a contract and needs to be honored. I certainly don't expect subs pricing before 7/10 based on the contract I signed.

That said, don't you think this petition is a little bit bitter? If these people get what they want, what exactly do you lose? In fact, you guys will probably gain because I guarantee it, you'll be bitching and moaning come next summer when the next iPhone comes out and you don't qualify for subs pricing.

I feel those locked in a contract deserve no discount. This has been tirelessly discussed and the fact that people think owning an iPhone makes them exempt to rules is ridiculous.

Where do you place your John Hancock? Here: http://twitition.com/j5lg6

Thanks for your time.

no way man. this is the time of obama. pure socialism. everyone deserves an iphone for free.

entitlement wins over personal responsibility.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

+1. They should keep the pricing as the 1st generation. So these kids mommas won't buy them the phone.

And if you say your not a kid, you sure cry like one.

Negatory, Morning Glory. I still have my 1st Gen iPhone, and there was not bitching and moaning on my part when the 3G came out. It was pretty much a given that there would be a new phone in the summer of 2009, so I exercised a little patience and waited.

I certainly won't. I was looking into getting a 3G last summer, but I wasn't eligible for an upgrade so Iwaited until this summer instead.

It's no big deal, it's just a phone after all.

Exactly. And as a current 3G owner (who was eligible to get the 3G S for $200), I can tell you that if a new one comes out next summer that is worth while, I can easily sell my 3G S at some point, and get my early upgrade price of $400 for the device if I desire. But do I expect a low price? No. Honestly I wasn't expecting to be eligible for the 3G S anyway, and that was fine with me.

I COMPLETELY AGREE with the OP.

Look, I want more for less too, but I also have enough business sense to know that these endless rants and petitions are USELESS.

Here's why:

When the 3G came out, AT&T had that shareholder conference call shortly after, explaining to their shareholders in gory detail how they were going to eat it on every iPhone 3G purchase but promised to make it back plus profit in commitments and subscriber fees. They gave hard numbers. Investors made investment decisions based on this information.

So, what do you think would happen if they changed course and started excusing contracts to give people new subsidies for the upgrade? THEY'D GET SUED INSTANTLY, that's what.

AT&T WILL NOT chuck their business model in the trash to make you happy. Not in a trillion years. The ranters out there may think they have a loud collective voice, but the shareholders have a much louder voice, believe me.

You are wasting your time and annoying the crap out of the rest of us. Please stop.

Well, I'm sure some people with 3G's are exercising patience (I am), but we are still being swamped with complaining threads. I see no reason why we shouldn't expect them come next summer.

I think this is a line that people should be repeating to themselves on this forum.

LOL, yes, just like Punxatawney Phil, the tide cycle in the Bay of Fundy and flu season, next summer we'll see a repeat of this. Guaranteed.

We will indeed, because people are never happy and always wanting more, for free. I will never sway on my views though. And if I do, I will give you my address, and the code to my gun locker, and you can come clip me. I mean the whole concept of a discount for being an iPhone owner is just absolutely mind boggling, to put it kindly.

Just a feeling, and don't quote me on this, but I really don't think your 'petition' and I use that word broadly, is going to do anything.

Like I said, don't quote me :p

Thats the point, its to encourage the phone company to do nothing. Thus, if AT&T doesn't give in, my petition wins.

Where were you when that Marine Corps recruiter put that paper in my face???

Well you get the point don't you? No one told you sign this and don't read. The first rule in business and whenever you enter a binding contract in anything is READ FIRST.

Now, if you happen not to read, its not AT&T problem that you bitch about it later. After all, whose fault is it that the contract was signed without being read?

Nah...that Sgt. in his dress blues specifically said, and I quote:

"Kid, you don't need to read anything. Just sign on the dotted line. Fortune and glory await."

All that was waiting for me was a bunch of pissed off people with guns, rockets and grenades.

And that, boys and girls, is now why I always read a contract before signing it.

Maybe AT&T should send some people with guns, rockets, and grenades to these fools houses.

Wow. You don't want other people to save money? Guarantee, next year when the newest iPhone comes out and not one of you can upgrade for the subsidized price, you'll all be whining and complaining just like the people you're petitioning against. This will be the very definition of hypocrisy.

lol this issue is never going to die until Launch day, when everyone will snap out of it and stop being petty immature idiots that don't understand how the world of fancy gadgets and technology works.
