Should AT&T cave in and give those who don't understand how contracts a discount?

I didn't expect to get it for 199 or 299 but on my line they were asking 599/699. I used another line on my family plan to get it for the discounted early upgrade. I happily paid 399. My biggest concern about the 599/699 pricing is that they still required you to sign an additional commitment from what I understood. Who are you to tell me what I or anyone else deserve by the way?

The irony here about everyone bashing AT&T is that it's actually APPLE that sets the full retail price of the phone, which by the way brings them enormous profit margins, yet everyone blames AT&T.

Yes. Contract rules. If I'd be bounded by the 3G contract, I'd suck it up to pay $399 if I'd want a new gadget. After all, I don't need it, but I want it.

However, that is not my case. I still kept my 1st Gen, whose upgrade eligibility status has been clear ever since I bought it full price almost 2 years ago.

This I MUST HAVE IT NOW attitude is what put the world in such a mess.

Pathetic. A contract is a contract/ Companies like AT&T and Apple have to make money. they don't exist to indulge you in shiny new gadgets when you feel like them.

i agree, we bought our tickets, we knew what we were getting into. i say, let us crash!

Here's how I see the situation:

I'm gonna skip the 3G for a year and stay with my 3G.

By Summer 2010, Apple's newest and greatest iPhone will be released, and I can get it at a subsidized price because I have fulfilled my 2 year contractual obligations with AT&T while everyone else is can be envious of my wise planning.

WTF, I voted yes as you can't seem to string a sentence together.

FYI: 33 signatures so far... <<<<<Complete and utter FAIL!

I signed it. I skipped on the 3G because it had the same processor/ram/graphics as the 2G. Next year I won't complain when the new iPhone comes out, I just simply won't buy it, 199 or 399.

Not to mention that means only 200 something people give a **** about your dumb whining, not a lot by macrumors standards.
Ok? Not everyone cares to vote. And really I couldn't care less if 8 people voted, I have more important things in life to dwell over. So nice try at an insult.

Thank you. This is my point. People feel like they are OWED everything and must have everything, and that rules don't apply. Its pathetic.

Exactly.

It cut off my typing, and I couldn't go back and edit it. So yeah, the wording is wrong. I pointed that out already, but does it make you feel important pointing that out to me? I forget, you must be perfect right?

And I don't care about the twitter petition, I more or less made that as a joke to provide a counter-argument against the crybaby's asking for a phone they don't deserve. I can tell I annoyed you based on how childish you are acting, mission accomplished I suppose.

Thats the funny part, some people are acting all ticked off at this topic, and those are likely the SAME people who think they are owed a new phone. I struck a nerve with them, I annoyed them, I ticked them off, and its funny watching crybabies get defensive without ANY sound reasoning to back them up. Its like arguing with a 10 year old, they have NO facts to back up anything they say but they still think they are right.

Me perfect, ha don't make me laugh.

I'm not annoyed.

I never thought I owned a new phone, the iPhone has been far behind everything else, it is crap to put it bluntly and not matter what others say the new one is as well, sure it has a couple of extra features but all in all it is a over priced iPod Touch.

Exactly. Apple is one of the few companies in the world that can sell an overpriced product that many people are willing to buy. Apple's marketing is pure genius, I'll give them credit for that. Why should Apple lower the prices when so many fanboys will pay a premium for a product.
