Holiday line-up all set was said before officially. This just confirms it officially again. The reason the clarification was needed was the difference between calendar year and fiscal year. Each audience hears it differently. Both audiences know what holiday season is.

The air freight costs could easily be due to initial samples of the MacPro (partner debug), iMac, MacBook being sent by air to populate the initial channel while mass quantities are shipped over by ship and initial orders are sent directly from China.

The MacPro 6 way I am guessing will be announced in January for immediate delivery and MacBook Pro quads announced for later delivery.

I hope the keynote is about the iTablet (ATNN).

There is a lot to talk about regarding software and services these days. I am guessing service will become an increasingly large component of Apple's offerings.

Now that Apple makes each portable computer casing one by one (in masse), it opens the possibility of strange form factor short run systems, ala Anniversary Mac, but more along the lines of vertical market systems.

Maybe they can do the LTE rollout for AT&T and Verizon . . . .

Rocketman

I also believe the keynote will be all about the Tablet...I'm getting my MBP (high end 15) tomorrow. But I really hope they make big changes in the MBP line in January. though I won't open the apple site again until I decide to buy another one :).

If apple called back to make things clear...maybe the "the holiday line is set" means is ready but not released...What you guys think?

It is quite possible. The Holiday line is set, it could mean that internally the products for the holidays has been defined. Or not.

Either way I was quite hoping for :apple:TV update and ACD for desktops.

Really.

Apple. Who else does this? "Hey, guys, right, remember that press release you just heard? Yeah, from us. No, you didn't do anything wrong. OK, well we just wanted to clarify, and make sure we were crystal clear that you heard us correctly that there will be NO MORE NEW PRODUCTS THIS YEAR. Got that? Right, None. OK, great, just to make sure we're on the same page! Have a great Holidays! Bye!"

ridiculous.

Sad but true

Knowing there aren't any surprises between now and Christmas makes for some shrewd shopping - especially knowing that January has always been a big product launch for Apple. I know they aren't limited by skipping Macworld... but in years past, you could at least go into the Christmas season with hope of new products coming in January. Now, no new products between now and then AND there is no clear sense when (or if) we will hear anything in January.

So...a new MBP now or wait? Or wait until they announce the news on the iTablet thingy before deciding? It feels like the old days when we had no idea what to expect with Apple. Everything was a guess.

If you need now, buy now - the old adage stays true. But if you're just a hobby buyer, or holding out for some feature or the other to be added, surely you can wait...

I am surprised no new mbp pros seeing that the MB was updated in may 09 and just updated again this month :(

Maybe January we will see a MBP update

Apple is not going to be at the January CES 2010, and it's not going to be at the January Macworld 2010.

So - when is the next official regularly scheduled - not special event - event? June 2010? Developer's conference? This sucks. At least we used to be able to count on Apple being for sure around certain dates. Now it's what... half a year? Once a year?

Wasn't that one of the main reasons Apple pulled out of MWSF - they didn't want to be tied to making a big product announcement at a specific date, and wanted to be more flexible in scheduling product events? Well, that's what we've got. :(

Perhaps it turns into one of these?
:confused::confused:

It was nice having a specific date, but either way Apple will have product releases early in the year. Many times iLife/iWork get updated at that time.

Also, this year the Tablet is rumored to be 1Q of 2010, as are the next Macbook Pro / Mac Pro updates.

The Apple TV has been rumored to be getting something, and it is FAR overdue for an update.

Plus, Apple has been having keynotes in March for iPhone development and there are rumors of Apple returning to NAB for a big Final Cut Pro update this year.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of new products.

Shouldn't surprise anyone. As history has told us: MacBook Pros will be updated Jan/Feb of 2010. Mac Pro will be updated around then as well, maybe March.

Apple's updated their Pro notebook lines every month of the year. History hasn't told us anything about the date.

You all realize Apple announced last year they aren't attending Macworld anymore. This may change the anticipated release schedule.

I feel that's why they bowed out - lessen expectation. There won't be the *need* to bring something "revolutionary" out every January. I'll happily accept quiet spec bumps to the MBPs... :D
