Maybe the guys at Apple do not have that much documents to manage. I would need a proper Finder and Preview to start to consider. However, these two apps have been degrading alarmingly lately.

No way. Apple should release a Mac tablet. iOS is a limited jailed-sandboxed toy without an accesible file system and lacking USB port among other shocking limitations.

I replaced my MacBook with an iPad Pro recently and haven't missed the MacBook at all. Of course, a lot of my real work is done on my three iMacs but an iPad Pro makes a great secondary computer (and primary computer for people who don't have computer-centric jobs).

Why is everyone here saying no no no? Phil never said the iPad Pro is a complete replacement for computers. I’m by no means defending Phil, but I’m not seeing where he said the iPad Pros are full computer replacements for everyone. I love my iPad Pro, but the one thing I will say is think they are WAY over priced. But then again, so are all smartphones.

It seems like Apple propaganda is on 100% to counter Windows on Snapdragon with 20 hours of battery life and starting at $600 which is the start of a new post-iPad era.

So I have tried to use my iPad Pro for my work. After 10 minutes, I had to switch back to my MBP. Ok, we get it, those millions of people don’t need a PC to get their work done, but those of us, who make things that the other people use (I work as webdeveloper) can’t use an iPad! So Phil, stop talking this sh*t, give us PRO devices we need (or let me install Apache on my iPad).

Amazing... I guess Apple must have better margins on the iPad because I can't think of any other reasons why they are so desperately trying to kill off a multi-billion dollar Mac business.

I may be in minority here, but I use iSO devices in part because I use Apple computers as well. I enjoy the integrated experience. If they kill the Mac, they will remove a key incentive for why I am sticking around, despite the fact that Jonny took a box of crayons to the whole iOS design.

That has nothing to do with iOS or iPad, that’s an app issue. Just a software update away, if the developers choose to support that feature.

You are completely right, but as a student like me who's writing a lot of papers every semester, you have to use your Macbook. Im missing that feature by far. (Yes, daily stuff can be easily done on the Ipad)

I feel like iPAD is still a square peg for a round hole when it comes to productivity...

Just because I CAN do work on iPad doesn't make it better than a mac for the job... Let me know when it's actually easier, and not just a possibility that requires jumping through hoops.

And it seems to me that the touch first interface is just plain slower for most tasks...

I hate TABLETS!!! If this is a pre cursor to not making the MBP anymore I will never buy an Apple product again.

I absolutely love my iPad Pro 10.5, but it’s no replacement at all even though I just learned that it quicker converts movies than my 12” MacBook does...
But as long as I can’t manage my iTunes library on it, it can’t replace a computer...

iPad Pro freezers when trying to crop a video clip in Photos app. Not sure if iOS 11 broke this functionality but it just freezes now. Macs can do that without a sweat.

So many self-centered posters here who think everyone's use case is the same as theirs. For some people an iPad can be their primary computer, for others it can't. And that's exactly what Phil said. Jeeze, people...

This x1,000. Seems people missed out what Phil actually said and are raging on thinking he claimed an iPad Pro could do everything a MBP could.

It’s pretty apparent that most of you lack reading comprehension. Schiller clearly said the iPad can be either a supplement or a replacement for a more traditional computer. So either you fall into the first camp or the second. Either way, it’s stupid to complain about his comments and cite use cases where an iPad won’t work as it’s already been established that it won’t work for everyone.

Exactly, it’s like these people cannot understand basic English...
