I’ve been waiting for this update, it’s looking rather good.

I have a question, if I may.

Is it possible to set the sensor so that when I'm home and awake it doesn't do anything, but if I'm asleep it just turns lights on for me, and if I'm away it will turn lights on and send me a notification (a pseudo home security system)?

The ability to control the color temperature of white light has a huge effect on your mood, energy, and sleep patterns. You can easily program these light bulbs to change white balance and color throughout the day to match your needs.

Plus, the world of automation opens up so many possibilities. When my wife is sleeping, I use the lights for timers. The lights let me know when it is about to rain. Heck, the lights even let me know when the Dallas Cowboys score...which is nice when I cannot watch the game. Plus, the lights come automatically on as I pull into the driveway and so much more.

One of the funnest features though is to be holding my wife in bed and simply say “Hey Siri, turn off the bedroom lights.” :)

How do you manage this witchcraft (setting up weather-related and score-related lights, not having a wife, lol)?

With one fell swoop, Philips may now have the quickest responding and most versatile (temperature and ambient light detection) motion sensor in the HomeKit ecosystem.

I love Hue's ecosystem and their support. If only they make Lutron Casetta-style products. I rather use common light bulbs that does not need special ventilation like Hue lightbulbs do.

I didn't think "don't enclose them" was that big of a deal.

I like Hue a lot as you are not tied into any particular eco system. Had Hue for a few years now and at first was a hard sell to the Wife due to the price. I sent the starter pack back and then a couple of weeks later she missed them!

Since then expanded with tap, Bloom, dimmer, motion sensors strip lights, different bulbs. Intergrated with Alexa and Siri....it’s a good system apart from the price!

This is why I have the white and daylight color bulbs for my kitchen and close to the door but rooms all have the yellow light bulbs.

IFTTT...it’s super easy. I forgot to mention, the wife loves them too. They are programmed to blink Orange every time her Bronco’s score! (For me, they blink blue every time the Cowboys score.)

IFTTT integration does work quite well. I have one setup make a Hue bulb flash when an Amazon Echo alarm goes off.

Another IFTTT trigger turns a on a corner accent light at sundown each day, then off at 10PM.

I think you both need to find a better team, lol.

So how exactly does IFTTT work with HomeKit? Or is this working on the Hue side of things instead?

So my software just updated, how do I add my dimmer and motion sensor to home? Think I’m missing something obvious...

Mine were automatically in the home app after the update.

This is why I invested in Philips. The only company that actually delivers on their HomeKit promises.
To be fair, LIFX partially delivered on HomeKit, which is why I only partially invested in one bulb. Although now with the hue dimmer switch HomeKit integration, I might have to take a look again at LIFX. They have much brighter BR30s.

This is fantastic! I have a lot of these Taps spread a around and all of my lights are Hue except for a decorative Nanoleaf. The Taps can now control the Nanoleaf and Hue lights as one.

In addition, Taps can now function as HomeKit triggers such as unlocking a door with August or triggering a Goodnight sequence (lights, AC, locks, camera, alarm).

HomeKit is really coming into its own this year.

[Edit] Nevermind, evidently my Hue app also needed to be updated and then my bridge needed a third update…

Even my Hue dimmers show up but all as Tap switches. So my dinners show as a 4 button even though they are not. Weird.

My Homekit sees the hue motion sensor, and they’ll show triggered on the sensors icons however none of my automations will work in the Home app?!

I really like how additional actions can be set in HomeKit while keeping the programming in the hue bridge the same, but at the same time the complexity is increasing. I use iConnect Hue to set up my devices as it provides additional features that the Hue app doesn’t. So now when I change a button function I have to start in iConnect Hue then go to the Hue app or vice-versa and then also go to HomeKit for any additional functionality for my KooGeek outlets. I really wish that there were a deeper integration.

The motion sensors have now become more interesting with the temperature readings. Be great to have notifications for temps and then have the ability to trigger a set of commands.

Home Kit has become more useful for me now. About time I invested in an ATV 4 to have a home kit hub lol.

Incidentally would I have to completely reconfigure all the bulbs again or would the pairing setup between my phone and the ATV just transfer all the info over?

Brilliant!

Now I have a Hue Tap button programmed to turn on an EVE Energy connected to the coffee machine... and my Hue Sensors can send me movement notifications!

Well done, Philips. I'm ordering more Hue gear right now...
