just cancelled my order for 3 phones. im glad i didnt sell my 3GS's and make teh switch. My neighbor has 2 and they both lose signal pretty badly. No way I want to go through that.

This is an Apple product message board, maybe he wanted to commiserate, to conversate, I don't know... what I do know is that there are some pretty ridiculous threads on here every day, and if somebody wants to start a "hey my problems were so bad I was forced to return my phone, anybody having the same problem" type of thread so be it! That's obviously what this type of forum is for...

The difference is that to some people, starting a "I stood in line for 40 hours and counted sheep" thread is valid, but a "I loved my iPhone 4 but the reception issue is forcing me to return it" is NOT. So, as long as the threads are positive or show a fan boyish devotion to Apple they are cool, but ones showing disappointment are not... I got it, I see what your looking for...

On the other hand, I also think it's a little hypocritical...
The reason I'm sick of it is because there is probably %90 of disappointment threads and %10 of positive threads, that's why it's nice to see a positive thread once in a while.

What if every single person on these boards created an "I bought on an iPhone" or "I returned my iPhone" thread? That would be fun to read, wouldn't it?

Oh, wait. That's already happened. Never mind.

EXACTLY... THANK YOU for making my point... Why aren't you guys in the "hey I just bought an iPhone" threads calling those people trolls...

Oh yeah... that's right, people can start a thread about whatever they want, as long as their thread doesn't involve issue that they are having with their Apple product... Keep drinking the koolaid...

It's kind of weird how similar a consumer product message board can be to a fan board for a sports team... I guess that's what they call "brand loyalty"

To the OP I say good for you. Stick up for your desire to have a working device. I have one, and the issue is terrible. Both my father's device, and my device have the issue. It is completely horrible. I can't even stand it. The only thing keeping me from bringing it back is my 14 days or whatever it is, while I hope and pray for some sort of software fix. However I don't really think it will do anything since the design of the phone is the flaw. Although its beautiful, and no doubt way better styled than any other phone, reception is probably the worst flaw it could have. Even crappy battery life would be better.

I also don't believe for one second that 'some' people aren't having the problem. That's complete bull, you don't know how to reproduce the problem, or you hold it naturally different. How could the same device have such drastically different outcomes? Theres no way its just some production issue, the bands either meet when you touch, or they don't.

I love my iPhone 4, but as far as I can tell, a 3GS with 4.0 would be almost as comparable, and would save me the trouble of worrying about reception, constantly remembering to hold it right.

I'm normally an Apple fanboy, and it sucks, it really does having to even think this is an option... I don't want to give it up. But it is a dealbreaker and people who may be thinking about getting one need to know that it's not just something you brush aside before you get one, thinking it's nothing.

If I were having problems with my iP4, I might give a damn. But I'm not.

The end.
/thread over

People who have problems always scream the loudest, I know 5 or 6 people who have the iPhone 4, I have used their phones, they all have the reception issue, but they are ALL happy with their phones, and they make sure to hold them appropriately so that they don't drop calls. I think that is great. If a software patch can mitigate the issue, I will probably get on my self.

Over 1.7 million iPhone 4's sold and at least 5 are being returned on this thread.

...the revolt has begun!!!

Hahahaha.

OK, OP. We hope you can share all of your daily activities on here. We are really looking forward to hearing about what you eat for lunch.

I'm ashamed of how the conversation has degenerated on this forum.

How is that possible? The phone hasn't been out for 14 days...

Why was this thread even started? There are 4,000 other thread about this topic. Do we really need to know what EVERY INDIVIDUAL PERSON is doing with their iPhone? Or couldn't they just chime in on a thread about returns or iPhone issues?

instead of being an Apple sheep

Aha!! I see what this is about! Self Righteousness and selfishness rolled into one! :p

Others (most likely people who hold their phone with their right hand and live in a strong signal area) have decided they can "tolerate" the issue (or have signals so strong that they don't have any observable degradation).

Oh okay! But what about those who have zero problems without using right hand and living in strong signal areas -- you didn't take them into account. Are they sheep as well?

As pointed out, the only reason this post exists is to get attention. I returned a Griffin Reveal case the other day but I didn't start a thread over it. I figured it probably wouldn't do anybody any good... maybe I should though, huh? :p

I'm in the apple store now. I plan to return this crap if they can't help me resolve this no sim error today as I can't keep randomly guess when to check my phone to reset it.

I'd probably return mine if I still had my iPhone 3GS. Sadly that was recycle over the weekend to pay for the iPhone 4. Hopefully Apple come clean and sort this issue out, be it software or hardware.

It was started to seek attention from people. No other reason. :p

There are some crazy Apple fan boys on this forum...

OP, smart move. I will be keeping my 3GS my self until Apple gets this sorted out. Honestly, I don't see how they can without a hardware modification, so I might just wait for iPhone 5. Actually, part of me is hoping that this thing is hopelessly flawed (which in it's current form, it is) because I would love for Apple to shorten their product cycle and release a redesign for Christmas. Same form factor (which I love) with a reworked antenna design and 64 GB of flash memory!

There are some bitter individuals who are not eligible for a full upgrade on this forum...

No proof the OP owns/owned a phone and less proof that it was returned.

This is generally a board where people gather who own Apple products, hence most tend to be pro-Apple or like their products enough to have bought them, for whatever reason.

So when disparaging threads are started, the natural reaction is to assume the person is trolling for attention. Especially a thread with an exclamation point in the title.

Its so cute that some of you guys who are returning your phones believe that Apple really take notice of the returns, they're out there to sell stuff, if there's a few things wrong and one or two devices are returned, do you guys honestly think they care all that much?

Sad to see it leave, but i'd rather cancel my contract / get a refund and wait until Apple fix their phone.

Was a great ride iPhone4, but I'll wait thanks. Or maybe I won't bother.

I'm looking forward to 50 more posts in the next week reminding us that you returned your phone. :)

No, as I pointed out, the "issue" is not affecting these folks, and as a result they have a fully working product. So they have no reason to return their phones. The "Apple Sheep" that I refer to are people who are having problems, are dropping calls, and have decided to just "tolerate" it because they can't live without their Apple product.

I would also add Apple fan boys who would ridicule another person for returning an Apple product simply because it does not work as it is intended as "Apple Sheep".

If my unwillingness to be a blind follower of a consumer brand makes me "righteous and selfish", than so be it... I however, will wait till Apple gets their product right before I make my purchase. That is indeed the beauty of the capitalist system, is it not?

This is the first fair criticism of this thread that I have seen...
