This is lame. I bet it's relatively easy for developers to code. I think that every developer should try to make their own and upload it to the app store. It would kinda be like "I'm Spartacus" and the overwhelming majority will save this app from being molested by the corporate war machine. It would become pointless to try to keep it away.

But on the other hand, I bet they know it would really piss people off to have to pay for something they've been using for free. Perhaps they just want to have a Star Wars Saber app done even better.

I actually don't really like Star Wars a whole lot, but I've used the app a few times to show off the iPhone and it usually gets some laughs.

This was one of my favorite apps, it was fun and free! :D

Too bad they pulled it, thankfully I still have my copy. I hope if they do make another one, that it is free. Honestly I can't see anybody paying for a silly program like this, it's fun to have, but I wouldn't pay for it.

I'm a fan of the app store, but I really have to say that this is why some people hate that Apple controls it.

Seriously, grow a pair of balls.

Uh, the developer removed it, not Apple. The developer was contacted by Lucasfilm and asked to remove it, they agreed.

I would be sooo upset if they charged for this.
Who in their right mind would pay for something like this?!

And yes, it is very possible that in a firmware update that they might have the firmware delete phonesaber.
They should call it iSaber instead too.

Dont care about phonesaber too much.

What they should be doing is working with the scumm vm people to bring Monkey island etc to the iphone! now that would be wicked!

Great. Does this mean Lucas can release a "Special Edition" in a few years with a load of pointless changes?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)

Has anyone looked at 'iSaber'? Looks almost the same, though I've not tried it. Wonder if they've been contacted.

I bet they didn't do anything because the iSaber sucks.
I've just looked at the reviews for it and it seems like nobody likes it, at all.
Seems as though phonesaber is wayy better.
They should just have one of them and change the name of phonesaber to iSaber.

Hmm... I wonder why Lucas Films cares at all.
I means if they do plan on coming out with an updated version of phonesaber, what could be added?
It's already been upgraded a few times and there isn't much it could me missing.
Maybe Lucas Films just wants money from Apple and some contract.

For those of you thinking it would be free, why did LucasFilm pull it and openly say they were making another one if they weren't in it for at least a buck.

Phonesaber or iSaber

I have a dream. iSaber has much better graphics, better suited for combat. But Phonesaber has much more realistic sound and responds better to the moves. What I want is for the two developers to join forces and create a supersaber that combines the best from the two apps. The we shall have the ultimate iPhone lightsaber experience. I have a dream.

Perhaps the new version will use GPS to sense your friends (or enemies) nearby. Audio quotes will play like "I sense someone, a presence I have not felt sense....."

Scary

Perhaps they are working on a real light saber for the iPhone. I mean a real real one that could be used to kill people. That would be terrible.

Or helpful if you're ever being robbed or attacked by storm troopers.
