Fake. Apple wouldn’t etch the ‘Designed by Apple’ on a standard key ring. Embossed on the leather I would be inclined to believe it.
Not to mention, the ‘Designed by Apple in California’ etching isn’t even centered correctly on the ring. If Apple actually printed this it wouldn’t be so sloppily done.

what's the point of air tags?
To help people who constantly lose their **** to find it again. iPhones with the U1 chip will be able to direct you within a few centimeters of a lost item with an air tag attached to it. Keys, wallet, remotes, you name it.

I'd almost guarantee that's fake. The typography is VERY sloppy
As an example, look at the kerning (spacing) between the I-F-O of 'California'. There's no way Apple would let that out the door.

(Oh, and don't worry that the tag has text on a curve than in a straight line. Designers can rebalance text to ensure it looks perfect)

Reference photo to demonstrate just how perfectly balanced their work is.

This would be sweet if true. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I’m not planning on buying a new Mac so I’m hoping for new Apple TV and air tags!

I’d love for this to be released, but, I think that pic is a fake, look how the wording is not perfectly aligned in the middle across the circle, more space to the top of the letters in one space, and more to the bottom in another...
Plus the leather looks cheap

I'd guess the Apple-silicon macs will get U1 chips too. Then the ecosystem for AirTags and orientation/location-awareness for all devices is nearly complete (iPhone, iPad, Watch, HomePod mini as fixed reference, Mac(Book)).
Maybe we'll also see an ATV with U1 in the near future and an update of the HomePod.

I'm seeing how Apple is preparing the ground for powerful AR-applications (Glasses ;-)

In the iPhones with UWB this would be redundant, I think? Unless I’m misunderstanding the underlying technology.
You're not mistaking the technology. We have some very interesting people that don't seem to know that iPhone already has FIND MY built in. As you mentioned if UWB is used on the iPhone 11& later models they would even benefit from the enhanced tracking.

I always read people saying that they want AirTags to easily attach onto their iPhone. You know, so when they open up the FIND MY app and see their iPhone Airtag appear right next to their iPhone (Two entires for the same device).... 🤯

I hope they make a thin one that attaches to your iPhone with MagSafe and is around the same size as the MagSafe charger just maybe a little thinner.
You understand that they are making Airtags to turn non Apple devices into Apple Find my devices right? You know the iPhone already has this BUILT IN?

What you're currently asking for is to put a GPS tracker on your GPS tracker. 😂

But what if the battery is dead. :)

I know you're joking but some ppl here really think this is a better answer than 'chip'n' their pet in a national registry.

The chip doesn't really help if your dog took off and you want to know where in the neighborhood it is. (Granted, AirTags would probably require a pretty dense population of Apple devices for this to work effectively, and a cellular GPS tracker would most likely be a much better option.)
