i have repeatedly said that is a 5.5" exists, that's what i'll get. For now i am test driving an lg g3 on verizon... Which is 5.5" with tiny bezels. Feels nice. I might just stick with the g3 and wait for the 6s.

haha!

So are we done with the "no parts leaks for the 5.5" or is this one going to be another part that will be ignored because acceptance of even 1 part leak significantly weakens the punch of that rationale?

And, if we accept this shell as a part leak, the bit about the drill holes aligning to the part shown a week or two ago likely means it was a 5.5" part leak too.

And, while yesterday's rumor implies that the protruding lens ring is for the 4.7" (or 4.7" too) up until then, we had the conflict of "no way that's for the 4.7" so it must be for the 5.5" vs. "not parts leaks for the 5.5".

I continue to cling to the money argument. Launch both and soak up all bigger-screen smart phone buyers vs. launch just one and leave the other to continue to be big sales for Samsung and other Android manufacturers? Why leave that revenue for them?

As I've said before, we see 4.7" as big and 5.5" as huge but Android people have seen bigger than 6" screens for what- 1 or 2 years now. To them, a 5.5" will seem small and a 4.7" might seem too small. We'll buy whatever Apple rolls out and Apple knows that. So I think the 5.5" is chasing those who have chosen Androids over iPhones because they want the bigger screen enough to forgo iOS. Sell us either phone. Leave no bigger-screen range uncovered for the Android crowd. Count the money from both existing Apple customers and the new ones that come back because they can finally get iOS on a bigger screen(s).

Bring on the 5.5! I have a Note3 and will switch if it comes out. To the people who swear its too big bla bla bla. Once you use a large screened phone you won't want to go back. Period. End of Story. <Flame suit is on> :D

Looks like it's real, but I think it makes absolutely no sense to get a phone that's bigger than your hand. It's a couple inches away from the iPad mini, why not just buy that.

A lot of people don't use these phones as phones. Instead they are smaller tablets that are occasionally used as a phone. Relative to Apple, this could be viewed as a pocketable iPad Mini.

Pay attention next time you travel. Lots of people have bigger-screen phones and some have huge phones. They take no issue with the size. In fact they CHOSE those sizes from many possibilities… and they wanted those sizes bad enough to go with Android over iOS. We just see these as bigger because we're (long term) accustomed to 4". But Android people have seen bigger than 6" screens and are accustomed to 5"-6" screens on many popular models. To them, they're normal and iPhone 4" is "too small".

Apparently human hands and fingers grew significantly over the past five years.

Would love to go back and see all those who spun how larger phones weren't necessary and didn't make sense.

They're not necessary and don't make sense when you really think about it... at least not when you get to the point where one handed use becomes impossible. The benefits of half an inch or .7" of extra screen real estate simply does not outweigh the inability to comfortably operate it with one hand.

For most people, 3.5" screens are still ideal for one handed use, that's still not incorrect. Even with my iPhone 5, its more of a struggle to hit the top left corner than before. What's happened since then is that it's been shown that one handed use isn't what many people value the most in a phone.

I'm still sceptical this to be a real part of an iDevice.

If you zoom enough you'll see an rare homogenous blur, this is clear sign of photoshoping.

Until better and more reliable leaks surface the 5.5 iPhone 6L still have Vaporware status for me.

Sorry guys still no 5.5" iPhone 6L, Jobs soul still at Cuppertino...

how are those bands more ugly than those horrible random glass bits we currently have on the iPhone 5/5S back? i think those are by far worse looking and i own one lol at least the top and the bottom match the middle now

Going back to when the iPhone 5 design was leaked, the comment with the most upvotes said (the iPhone 5 design) looked "hideous" and Jony Ive should be fired for it. To be fair the comment had even more downvotes.

Interestingly when the iPhone 4 leaked, the first comment in the Macrumors thread also stated (the iPhone 4 design) looked "hideous".

So if the history is any indication, I would say this is about the norm for Macrumors and most of us will get used to the new design fairly soon.

That's pushing it. Most people consider 5.5"+ Androids to be big. Even after using my 6"+ Android phone for a while, Galaxy Notes and likes still look big to my eyes.

I have a phone that's far bigger than the Note and I much prefer a 4" iPhone.

in what situation do u have to tap the top left corner though? thats what swipe back is for in ios7. 3.5 looks like a squeezed tamagochi now

I don't know why people won't believe Apple would create a phablet. It's huge in China and that alone is reason enough for Apple to create one. Remember, not everyone can afford both a smartphone and tablet; especially in developing nations.

Personally, I find them horrible cos they're not very portable, impossible to use with one hand and are no substitute for an iPad. But that's just me... I love being able pull my very light and compact iPhone 5S out of my pants pocket and in one single motion have it unlocked using Touch ID and opening apps, checking stocks and typing iMessages with one hand while I sip coffee using my other hand.

Hopefully Apple will come on stage and say it's okay to use a phone with both hands. Maybe it will finally be okay to do so. Then the "can't use it one handed" excuse will die a well deserved death.;)

I personally couldn't care about the magical one handed use. But I do care about knowing how you sip coffee with your other hand. Are you Human 2.0? Drinking fingers... sweet.:p:D

Pretty exciting. Even if there’s a delay between the [possible] 4.7 and 5.5” devices, I’d expect both of them to be discussed at the event next month, including pricing.

I’m definitely in for the larger device *if* it includes additional improvements over the 4.7” (OIS, use of sapphire, bigger battery [kind of assumed]) *IF* it’s a $100 premium (i.e., size only might not motivate me).

I'm happy. As long as ther is a 4 inch version. That would keep everyone happy. People who like oversized phones get their way, and people who like the normal sized iphone get there way :)

That's because you like efficiency. Not many people know what that mean. I use my 5s one hand only. And I love that.

Unfortunately the downside is there probably will not be a 4 inch iPhone with latest components from now on, just like the 3.5" iPhone. :( I'm one of very few wanting to get a good new 3.5" iPhone or even a iPod Touch but that won't happen anytime soon.

Damn it, regarding the antenna breaks, I think I've moved from abject disgust to uncomfortable acceptance. Soon Stockholm Syndrome will kick in and I'll love them :(

I still believe the 5.5 will have the protruding camera lens because I assume it to be thinner to compensate for it's increased girth. The 4.7 will be lovely and flush ...I hope...

The 5.5" 'rumored' model is starting to appeal to me more after I saw my friends GS4. I like the big screen but I guess I just never experienced it.

I will be torn between the 2 if there's two sizes released.
