My most favourite of all the manual kitchen utensils. This one is about due for a replacement, it's amazing how worn out it is after 5 or 6 years of solid usage! I make a lot of sauces.

Really nice metallic sheen to this fellow Peter, thanks for the share. I really like getting to see all these different bird species without having to leave home!

I got to see a tiny (6-9" tall) burrowing owl yesterday on a different forum. I had never heard of them before.

Thanks John. :) I find it very interesting as well to see the variety of wildlife shots from around the world and that gets my travel interest revved-up (if I can find the means). For now, I'll live vicariously through others.

Funny you should mention owls…There is quite a buzz going around locally as a pair of Great Horned Owls have nested and owlets can now be seen in the nest. I haven't been able to get a clear shot of the nest as it's buried deep in the top of a tall pine but here is a shot of the male standing watch nearby.

For perspective, the Great Horned has an average height of 56 cm (22 in) and average wingspan 127 cm (50 in).

Not my best effort but ok from about 30 metres. I'll be returning in the coming weeks with the rest of the birding paparazzi with the hope of clearer shots of the adults and young.

He's gorgeous Peter, I look forward to seeing more! Come back with a damn big ladder and maybe a sherpa. ;)

We get Barn Owls around here, you hear them sometimes at a local national park but you rarely see them, more chance of spotting a Yowie. :(

I've mostly seen these pop up in my travels of Asia. Still do not understand the story behind them.

These are from the Great Wall in Beijing, China.

The shot I took was in hungary, it was started off by the mayor of budapest. You and your sweetheart lock the lock on there and throw the key into the danube.

I photographed this one in prague too.

I think there's quite a few places where it happens.

Orchids

Love the patterns on the petals of this beautiful flower. I hope I can become as good as any of the regular posters here.
