Some interesting looking seed nuts from the bush-walk last week. Handheld with the Tamron 90mm macro without image stabilisation.

Anyone in the mood for some surreality today? (82 seconds from Alpe di Siusi)

Good thing this isn't a competition because this would be hard to follow. Beautiful Phrasikleia and thank you for sharing. :)

Mine for today is a Grackle that has returned for Spring. However, given the state of our weather, he may be returning south. :(

Really nice metallic sheen to this fellow Peter, thanks for the share. I really like getting to see all these different bird species without having to leave home!

I got to see a tiny (6-9" tall) burrowing owl yesterday on a different forum. I had never heard of them before.

From the Yukon Quest 2012 sled dog race in Fairbanks, Alaska. The race takes place each February. One year it starts in Fairbanks and ends in White Horse, Canada. The following year it starts in White Horse, and ends in Fairbanks. Approximately 1,000 miles long.

Love those sinuous clouds: like a silk scarf thrown over the peaks...

^^^ Images start to 'sing' at this time of day, while there's still light in the sky...

A pic from exactly a year ago: a dusting of snow on the tops, but the grass greening up. Spring in the UK is very late this year; the landscape is dry and brown. Very strange. I think we're going straight from winter to summer, missing spring out altogether...

Taken in the Adelaide Zoo Nocturnal House. A difficult shot due to the extremely poor blue-hued lighting.

ISO3200, 75mm, f/1.8, 1/20 sec, handheld, manual focus

Nice complimentary colours there Robert.

The yellow tint has added some nice character to this picture SunnyJ

Nice capture, I gave up on the bats and others behind glass in there, but did get the guys not behind glass. The camera I had at the time I was there last couldn't cope with high ISO's and near darkness, high ISO's with adequate illumination it was ok with, like the following picture.

I used to keep these guys as pets, they are Spinifex Hopping Mice, and I'm a little disappointed I didn't get the fluffy tip of the tail in this shot. I ended up with about 50 of them in a 4 foot tank and donated the setup to the Nature Education Centre, who lend them out to schools around the city. This is taken under infrared lighting, hence the colour. It looks good in B&W, but I like it this way too.

Was at a conference this weekend in Chicago. Got back back to my room one night and saw this. Just too good to pass up.

Sony a99, Minolta 35-70mm lens at 50mm, ISO 6400, f/4, 1/13s. Just got this camera the day before I left for the conference so I'm still learning how to use it.
