Oopsie

First in a series from Puerto Rico. A little miscommunication with my wife on whether or not the bag was zipped. Thank goodness the filter took the brunt of the fall, and the lens is ok.

I took a trip down the south coast today with the sole intention of taking photos.

This is Boscombe Pier.

Great image!

Boscombe, though

I had to live in Bournemouth for about four months while I trained for an old job. The first night, we promptly got drunk and I stayed at my friends in Boscombe. The next morning, we woke and went in search of food. One of the very first images I got of Boscombe was walking into the centre, and seeing a man and his wife - or girlfriend, more likely - pushing two kids, with his partner pregnant. In his left hand he held a can of beer, and in his right, a joint.

Boscombe never really got better after that.

Hmm, EXIF info says 1/2000s and 48mm, perhaps you are conflating the two in your reporting of the shutter speed?

Weird. Deviant.com says the shutter speed is exactly as reported, and so does *my* Safari Exif plugin, maybe yours is broken? Plus my EOS software says the same for shutter speed. I think theres something wrong on your end.. Also, if you look at the image URL and follow it to Deviant you can see the photo there with the Exif on that site too. I can't imagine why your exif is displaying inaccurate info. Hrmmm?

And I sort of proved that the 1000D goes to 1/4000th by citing my reference. Link to the ZD review for the camera is provided in my original post. I was shooting AV and that (1/2048 or whatever) is what the camera chose for speed. :D No worries.

Nice Job!!! Where was your vantage point for the picture?

Me and my friends were at the Bentley Hotel Rooftop Bar on 62nd and York Ave. Literally right next to water and bridge. Stepped out to take a shot used the ledge as my tripod for the 10 second exposure.

Me too! It must be a pretty heavily-photographed boat. It's on Tomales Bay, at a town called Inverness. Here's mine, from April this year:

Some other versions on my Flickr (link in sig).

Hey, someoldguy, looks like we did the same trip: I saw you posted a photo of Point Reyes lighthouse recently. That's a good place. I have some from there in my Flickr and might post one here tomorrow.

Yeah ... It's a good trip . I do it every year or 2 when I'm in the Bay area annoying family .I think someone posted a similar last year? When you went to Point Reyes did you look for the elk herd at Tomales Point?

mikeschmeee You've really gotten me back into taking photos with my danboard. Thanks man, he's been getting pretty neglected.

No, I didn't know about the elks. I went to Point Reyes looking for whales. Didn't see any, but saw a lot of Elephant Seals, and had a great trip. Here's one of my photos from there. It's part of the lovely old machinery inside the lighthouse.

I really like your shot too. What lens did you use? Thanks

Yelled at them to turn the lights off but they just wouldn't pay attention . No doubt the Muzak in the offices was too loud ...
