Eerie, yet beautiful. Nice one.

Great shot (though I might clone out the bird near the left edge... a bit distracting)...

Powerful, great shot!

Thanks All, it means a lot when people whose photos you admire comment.

Doylem, you're right about the third bird. I had thought about it before I posted, but didn't. I think I was just pleased to get the image without having to manipulate it much (enhanced the colour a little and sharpened it)

A lot of advice I read says to grow your photography you should get out of your comfort zone. Yesterday I got WAY out of my comfort zone from what I did during my 365 project. I have been hired as a freelance photographer to shoot the local HS football games for my local Patch.com. Last night was the first game, and here's my first action shot that I really liked from the game.

I shot the whole game in jpeg mode to ensure continuous high frame speed. I managed to get at least 1/500th shutter speed for most of the game, though it did mean I was using ISO 3200 when it got dark. Because I had to upload the images as soon as I got home, I wanted to get good images from the camera that didn't require retouching. Since I had 987 shots to go through, that was particularly important.

Heading home from work in Boston Friday afternoon, before Hurricane Irene hits. Purple rules!

Greg

no offence but this is kind of pervy and in my opinion there's nothing that makes this a notable shot. Sure they're all wearing purple and have a similar length of hair. Maybe you should have done something with just that. And work on your framing. The guy in the grey sweater in the background draws a lot of the attention away from what you're trying to do.

Goodbye Irene....

To put things into context , where I was standing is about 1/4 mile from the Hackensack River , what you're seeing is mostly tide/storm surge
