Alex Morgan from the National Soccer Team. Nothing artistic. Just a photo from a charity soccer game I went to :) I was happy to get the ball into the shot.

Like your shot... but with everything taken out... :p

Magnificent light, terrific clouds, and a beautiful location. I'm not used to seeing such a subdued treatment from you, though. It would appear that you forwent your usual GND filter and Aperture tweaks. Am I right?

Thanks... Maybe I'm feeling a bit subdued at the moment. On the other hand, this is a wierd location, which looks like 'the land that time forgot' even on a bright summer day. Not sure why, but it's an intriguing place.

I always have a grey grad in my pocket, but, TBH, I don't actually use it very often. I love to 'close out' the top of a pic with clouds, especially if they're the substantial kind of clouds that don't need any help from a filter.

Although the cropping is off and the image is blurry, the expression on the bride's face is absolutely priceless...

@Doylem... what a cool photo!

My dad just bought a Canon 60D with a 15-85 lens yesterday after getting sick of using the family point and shoot cameras that he/we have been using for the past 15+ years. I took the opportunity to try and familiarize myself with the camera, as I have never used a camera like that before. I'd have to say it produces awesome photos and it is so much fun to use!

Here's one of the few hundred we snapped already...

I hope you enjoy the camera! I have one myself, and I'm really happy I got it.

We just got back from a trip to Pennsylvania. We spent a day in Gettysburg and then moved on to East Berlin for my wife's family reunion (her mom grew up there). While this isn't a perfect photo, I feel it is a good prelude into the series.

Beautiful start to the month Reef. You either travel a lot or live in a very scenic part of the world and know how to capture it well.

I think of you every time my urls change into timgs! :)

Now from the sublime to the faintly ridiculous …

Prehistoric is exactly the word I was thinking of as well Dale, great shot Doylem!

Nice! love the way rocks appear underwater in long exposure like this.

You are correct, that was shot in Queenstown, New Zealand.
I think you two would really enjoy NZ, endless photographic opportunity just about wherever you are... If you can stomach the thought of driving on the "wrong" side of the road in a RHD vehicle that is ;)
(Thoughts of driving through US cities sit as potentially disastrous with me , but I'd love to shoot Big Sur)

Blasphemy! What's this about a Canon?

BTW, nice new signature :D;)

I was hoping you'd like it! :D

Yes, the similarities are uncanny, but there is one major difference: my shutter speed was 155.5 seconds longer than yours. ;)

Not sure why?! A majestic outcropping in unspoilt, rugged surroundings with an exposed face that catches the light of a low sun at just the right angle? Of course it's intriguing! I think you have one other shot from this location that I count among my favorites of yours.

Phrasikleia, that's a beauty. Love the water color on the right.

Thanks, thegreatdivorce (a wry name for a wedding photog, eh?). Yes, the water color of the rivers and lakes in this country is really incredible. The makers of the movie Narnia decided to shoot their river scenes here because it would save them the expense of resorting to CGI graphics--the water looked surreal enough on its own!

And speaking of beauty, that bride in your photo is the definition of it. What an enchanting gaze she has. The background is wonderful too. Lovely shot.

Love the mix of colors, and no cell towers to clone out! :)

Thanks, otter. Nope, I didn't have to clone out anything here! But please do point out future cell towers and the likes; I appreciate knowing what people see in my photos, good or bad. I don't always agree, but hey, that's what voodoo dolls are for! :p :D

I usually don't comment on exposure or processing for people new to the forum, I stick to the basics of framing and composition. Unless you are going for some type of effect, pay close attention to the vertical and horizontal lines in an image before you press the shutter. Make sure they line up with the edges of the viewfinder as best as possible.

This one from your Flickr page is nicely framed.
