Popped down to that London place today for a few shots of the cycling element of the Triathlon (which we- Team GB won)

Another slide. Not taken by Curiosity, but look south from the south rim of the Chisos Mountains. Big Bend NP

Typical (outstanding) photo. Great feel and mood. The lighting is superb. The time stamp in the EXIF is 4:55pm but no time zone is specified. Given that you travel the globe, what was the local time for this shot?

Dale

Thanks, Dale. I'm glad to hear that somebody likes that one. It's the type of photo that I think of as a 'photographer's photo'...it's not a shot of some wonderful beach or national park or anything that might make someone think "I want to go there on my next vacation!" :p Anyway, to answer your question, the time of 4:55pm was the local time in Slovenia when I took it.

Quick question everyone... is it possible to post images to this thread from smugmug instead of flickr? Flickr is not letting me upload anymore images until next month...

Thank you for your help!

Thanks, TheDrift. That was a great day (they are both from Tuesday before last). If only all days could be like that one...

Since you asked for C&C, I'll throw in my $0.02, for what it's worth (probably about $0.02). The scene has some good visual interest with light showing behind the trees and nicely picking out the moss-covered mound. You have a clear foreground, middleground and background (log, mound, trees and beyond), so the photo has some good depth. The tall trees in the background seem to gesture toward the source of the light on the mossy mound, which sort of puts those two realms of the photo in dialogue. As is often the case with woodsy locations, however, you had a lot of 'clutter' to deal with. There are stray branches intruding into the scene, a lot of strong lines that don't necessarily play well together, and the large area of leaves catching light just above the mound is competing with it. Maybe you didn't need to include quite so much in the frame. That moss-covered mound is very interesting, and I wonder what sort of composition you could have found a few steps closer to it.

Hey Phrasikleia, thank you for your detailed comments. I spent some time cleaning up the branches and played with the lightness on the spot that you mentioned in Photoshop and I see the huge difference it made to the image!
