dllavaneras realy like your photos,
the animals are creepy yet fashinating.

Thank you very much! =)

That is awesome. The eyes in the background are as mesmerizing as the mantis... yours?

Hehe, I wish! Those lovely eyes belong to a friend of mine, she always poses with any critter we find. Awesome surf shot, by the way, you've already got us used to great pics. ;)

there was a full moon tonight but it looks more like the sun in this picture. i have to play with it some more i guess to get the correct exposure. although i am not sure if i can correct the star-effect. maybe if i open up the lens?

correct. if you do not want to have "stars" around bright light sources you have to open up the aperture.

These PotD threads is an awesome procratisnation tool.

Celebrating my entry to the DSLR world:

Canon XS, 1/100, f/8, 48mm, ISO 100

Edit: Great idea to insist on people posting the Exif data. I find it very useful to better understand how you all take these great pictures.

Cute shot!
How close were you? The picture is quite sharp.

About 1 meter, then cropped.

@Sangosimo Thanks!
@TheReef Thanks for the info and the comments.

I used a DIY lightbox for the lighting. Took me 30 mins and cost 0$. A fun project!

@kettikco: Very nice pic. Must have been a fun trip.

Southland, New Zealand.

For some reason the right one has a very HDR look to it, although I think it's probably just the effect of the sun shining on the land and everything else being in the dark.
Awesome shot, one of those moments of being in the right place at the right time :)

I love the Exif Viewer add-on for Firefox. It shows exif data for any photo, that wasn't edited too much. I find it work on most photos on this forum.
