Oops, I didn't catch the f/2.8 in the Exif. That's quite a lens you've got there!
Yep it is; it's my new favorite lens. I've only had it for a couple of weeks. The thing is like a boat anchor compared to the kit lens, but I really don't mind.
Thanks. It's not my usual subject matter, but maybe it's not all that different from the "ruins" I usually shoot.

Nice action capture... great action!! But... man, those waves sure seem small. Wetsuit required here in Lincoln City, OR, but you guys need to come to the west coast and hit some of our 30-40 footers...

Very nice eagle.
I don't know what kind of owl that is. I thought I was taking pictures of a falcon, until I noticed the owl-type wings. The beak is also different from a falcon's.

We get big gnarly warm waves in hurricane season, but nothing close to pacific like swell.
I would do it in a second... but my favorite pics are taken from waist deep water in baggies with a splash proof E-3 lol!

A buddy of mine in Santa Barbara runs a surfing forum you might enjoy. He shoots a Canon 1DMkIII with a 300 f2.8 on a Wimberly head from shore, and a 20D in a waterproof housing (edit: from SPL) from the water (and a wet suit, of course). Do you use any sort of splash proof plastic bags?
My K10D is also sealed, but am still worried about the odd occasion where this happens
When your on rock, you can run, when your in the water it's not so easy
Ah, light box. Sorry about that. I guess the light box could be used as a soft box if the flash was the thing inside of it...
