I fear you're right. I'll use photobucket or somewhere else for posting to this forum in future.

It's a Yahoo thing. They're the Computer Associates of the Internet. Give 'em a couple more years, and flickr will be as dominant in photo hosting as geocities is to web hosting ;)

Joey Remone from the Remones, an awesome Ramones cover band! What do you think of the PP? I'm not sure about the skin tones... the lighting was predominantly blue and I tried toning that down, but I think he might look a bit dead now, haha.

Apologies to everyone, but I'd really like to get to the bottom of this. Seems like everyone sees AxisOfBeagles' photos but me (and Ish the other day). This is what I see (and this goes for both photos you posted today, the one in the Daily thread and the one in the Fortnightly thread):

Does anyone else have any idea, why most people see his photos but some of us don't?

Have you tried different browsers and computer OS'?

Both this and the previous photo are visible again. I guess that means that flickr's uptime is something less than 100%.

In order to use this picture, I had to go a bit heavy on the artistic processing in photoshop. The original was just not sharp enough, and it couldn't be fixed. But, the emotion and expression displayed made it too good to dump. So this was the only way I could salvage and use the picture. The original also had totally white windows in the background. No way I could do an HDR to fix that, and I had maybe a minute to pull out the camera from the bag and take a few shots as we sang the hymn. I ended up pasting in the windows from another picture I had of those same windows to fix those. I think I ended up with something usable that still captures the essence of the moment.

Awesome work... it's one of those kinds of shots that has a theatrical element to it, so the painting-like outcome works really well. In fact, had you nailed the shot and it was tack sharp and full of dynamic range, this may still have been a preferred treatment. :)

It wasn't just him. Several of us were seeing the same problem. gnd is in Europe; Cliff3 and I are both in the Bay Area; Ish in England. We're all seeing these flickr photos disappear intermittently.

I guess the odds are that you're not all running the same browser. ;)

By intermittently, do you mean that given a particular post, you sometimes see the image and other times get the Flickr error message? If so, interesting, and points to Flickr as the likely cause. I suppose there is a small chance that browsers could be mis-communicating with Flickr, or the request is being corrupted when sent to Flickr, but I have my doubts about that.

I've seen that error in the past too (on Safari up & down the Pacific West coast). In the end I just decided to ignore those posts. I can't fix Flickr and I'm not going waste time trying to back track the link or refreshing the page. The error suggests a possible temporary problem, so maybe I'll be lucky to see the image on return to the daily thread.

Yes, I sometimes see the image and sometimes don't. gnd is using a PC, and I'm using a Mac, so it's not a browser issue.

<smart ass mode> England is in Europe too. (although some inhabitants tend to deny it)

Still playing with the images I captured early one morning a few weeks back. This is only the second image I'm happy with (so far - still much work to be done).

How bizarre. I have not altered the posting to flickr, but this is what happens when you do. I will edit the post with a new link - and I do apologize. Sure wish I knew why.

When I first looked I couldn't see either picture but today I can see the second as you can see. I've never seen the first one. I've not had any problems with your other photos as far as I remember and I can see yours okay in the Challenge. Can't see it's anything you've done. Have you tried reloading it to Flikr? It'd be interesting to see if it comes up this time. I'm using a Mac too.

I'm not one of them. You could always say mainland Europe to differentiate if you really wanted. :)

It's not working down here either, I can see the second you quoted but not the first.

Maybe it's been determined already but I'll chime in and say that it's not just AxisOfBeagles' photos that are disappearing. For some time I've noticed images disappearing from a number of posters who use Flickr. I found it irritating that they would make posts here and then so quickly remove the associated images. At least now I know they weren't doing it on purpose.

I hardly post anything to Flickr anymore and removed the link to my Flickr page from my signature. I got tired of people going there instead of my blog, which is where I'd really like everyone to go.

Yes I know that lens has limitations next to your other one. Just to make clear I never meant to offend you, I was just saying that you could take stunning pictures with that 18-55 IS lens :D

haha okay man thanks :D

Oi, don't be knocking "rushed meaningless drabble". Without "rushed meaningless drabble", there wouldn't be much to read here at all... :)

haha this is very true, my apologies :D
