Fooling around at the bar...

Just a Monte Cristo that made a mess of the glass. Used my 35mm f1.4.

I like that a lot! Care to share how to achieved that shot? I tried but I can't get the sun rays to pop out :( Mine are very faint. :(

Oodles of shots? I took about 30 photos (no filter) fiddling with modes on my 50D and this one, for whatever reason, turned out the best.

That is a cool optical illusion. The tall buildings in the distance all appear to be leaning to the right, but when I check it against a grid, they are all straight. Is the warm lighting from TOD?

Yes, I took the photo late in the afternoon from the observation deck on the Bridge Pylon. The shadows in front of the opera house are from the arch of the Harbour Bridge. It is an HDR, so saturation has been boosted and it has been warmed up.

Mystical, magical, I keep running out of adjectives for your pictures I just love your work and can't wait to see the next offering. I don't know between you, otter, the reef and so many others-it's like a national geographic travelogue every day. What a treat! Thank all of you for the visual treats you keep delivering!

I'm a n00b so I don't know much about what I'm doing but here's the EXIF data:

Nice photo. Welcome to DP. Make sure to read the sticky on the first page about posting , commenting, etc. For example, I added the letter "T" in front of "IMG" that preceded and followed your picture to make it thumbnail size. The Mods like us to do that. Looking forward to more photos.

One more time with this photo. I cooled it down and changed the way the images were merged by Photomatix to improve the clarity. I also added a slight graduated filter to the sky to make it a little more interesting. FWIW, this was made from 5 images with a 1 stop difference between each image. Handheld D2x with Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 at 56mm (84mm), f5.6, manual WB, and ISO 100. The base image is at 1/800.

^ I do prefer the look of it "cooled down" to the previous. Gorgeous!

Oh I'm a n00b to photography and adjusting the DSLR to get best results, not a n00b to MR and TIMG when it comes to quoting images. ;) (think mine was just within acceptable size to post inline without TIMGing.) I browse these POTD threads often because the photos I see within are incredible. Thought this one was just about good enough to contribute within. :)

Thanks, I like it better too.

I think use of the timg tag is intended for referencing an image in quotes and not the original posting of the image. I generally use a maximum of 1024px on the long side for photos I post (not including the frame that is added after the image is resized) and no one has complained.
