It's July on the International Dateline.

Welcome to Photo of the Day. The POTD thread was started by iGary in May, 2006 and converted to a monthly thread in November 2007 by Arn. POTD is one of the most popular picture groups on MacRumors, often exceeding 500 posts and 20,000 views per month.

Photo of the Day is intended to be a showcase for your best pictures. There is no limit to your gear, just your imagination. P&S and film cameras are welcome along with DSLRs. There are no themes like the Fortnightly Challenge and Weekly Contest, and no winners (or losers) either.

Thanks! I use the B&W equivalent (10-stop ND). I also had a 3-stop GND in front of it for that shot.

Interesting perspective of a beer pong game.

Shot in downtown Kansas City at the 2012 Beer Pong for Babies (March of Dimes) charity event. Those in attendance included two Sporting Kansas City soccer players, one of which is in the photo (Chance Myers).

Hi, lovely shot as usual :)

What brand of GND do you use? I'm still using a Cokin GND and it isn't blocking the color chanels equally, giving a color casts that a better quality filter would prevent I'm sure.

    Thanks in advance ;)

Nice shot. I thought the clouds looked unreal so checked the EXIF data and see it is a 2 minute 48 second auto exposure. WOW! I see a later post you mention using filters. BTW, you may want to update your copyright year which says 2011.

    ----------

Avro, I'm curious, did you you ND filters on this shot?

Thanks, Rowbear. Color casts are common with all of the brands, but they only tend to come out with very long exposures. For example, Lee filters are known for their blue cast and Cokin for their magenta cast...choose your poison. ;) My panel-type filters are Cokin Z-Pro, and I'm very happy with them. I don't know what the smaller Cokin filters are like (P size, etc.), but supposedly the Z-Pro series have better quality resins.

Thanks, xStep. Yes, the exposure was that long, but I shot it in Bulb mode. I have no idea why any EXIF viewer would call that an "auto" exposure. Anyway, thanks for the note about my copyright--that's what I get for going six months without shooting. I was lucky to remember which end of the camera to look through!

No filters for this one. But I did some adjustments to highlights/shadows in Camera Raw. I've never used an ND at night, but I commonly use them in day-time to drop the shutter speeds without having to stop-down.

I do have ISO50 on the camera I used, that's quite handy.
