Don't post here often but I had to say this.

Knox. That is a GREAT photo !

Well thank you. :)

It took two trips over two days to get that image but I'm pretty happy with it. The Milky Way would be more visible if the Moon weren't so bright. Then again with no Moon the hill on the left would be very flat. Unfortunately you can't have both dark skies and a bright Moon in the same exposure. ;)

Ah, a race of mutant buses plotting to take over the world. Love it... :)

Nevada is know for Area 51 after all. Shades of Repo Man perhaps?

Here's today's offering:

Great start to the month everyone!
Nice to see you two back, I really like both shots, where was this one taken gnd?
This is the McWay Waterfall beach at Big Sur, CA. I finally finished migrating to a new laptop and have been having fun going over the photos I took half a year ago

I really like the way the lightning lights up one part of the ocean and gives it texture

Here is another one from Big Sur:

I thought it might have been Big Sur, another great shot there.
Big Sur's the first place I want to visit when I come back to California.

Coming after TheReef's amazing lightning shot, I've got one I took last night:

That's a mate in the shot, I wouldn't consider that a risk at all, I regularly take much larger risks. :p

As long as the camera body is above water, then that's all that matters to me :D

I'm too clumsy for that.

Thanks, Rowbear. Color casts are common with all of the brands, but they only tend to come out with very long exposures. For example, Lee filters are known for their blue cast and Cokin for their magenta cast...choose your poison. ;) My panel-type filters are Cokin Z-Pro, and I'm very happy with them. I don't know what the smaller Cokin filters are like (P size, etc.), but supposedly the Z-Pro series have better quality resins.

P ones certainly cast towards the red/magenta end. Which can be good if that's what you want. I really liked the outcome on this shot as the resulting colour is actually better than what was really there (P filters)
