^ That is quite nice! I must say I had forgotten about Canada Day :(

Not fireworks as we won't be getting any here, but, my contribution for today.

I like the dichotomy of the brighter surface of the 'modern' lock versus the more muted appearance of the original thumb latch here; it gives the photo some character and something a bit compelling to explore with the mind. Nicely done.

Nice. Really love the wood texture and the editing.

Are you serious? That a cool snapshot to share with your family, not a photography to share on the forums.:roll eyes:
Next time think before you post and don't waste others peoples time with that pic. Remenber, photography isn't for everyone!

It's SFW, but given that it's a demure nude, some people may still not appreciate having it show up at 800px wide in the forum, so here's the thumbnail (if it still isn't kosher, let me know and I'll take it down):

Just as a heads-up, that photostream does contain depictions of artistic nudity.
Strong image. You have a good eye. :D

(not my best work but it was hand-held from a boat!)
Relax dude, it's a great photo. I like that you didn't cut the fireworks. Good job!:)

Panning images instead of providing constructive criticism is rude. Doing so without offering up a link to your own photos is cowardly.

P ones certainly cast towards the red/magenta end. Which can be good if that's what you want. I really liked the outcome on this shot as the resulting colour is actually better than what was really there (P filters)

Yes, the rosy and lavender hues look quite natural in that one. The worst kinds of color casts are those that are not correctable with simple white balance adjustments because adjusting one end of the spectrum throws the other completely out of whack (e.g. toning down the magentas makes the greens horribly electric), but again, that problem usually comes about only with lots of filter stacking and very long exposures. I use a GND more often than not and rarely see any color casts unless I start stacking filters. If your filters are showing uncorrectable casts without stacking and on shorter exposures, then you might want to consider upgrading them.

I am not a serious photographer but I am getting started. Will I ever have the skill and the "eye" of others who post here? That question remains to be answered. All I can say is that I'm going to try my best. I'm certain that in the future I will post photos that will be "amateurish" in comparison to others in both subject and technique but will have "something" that I want to share. The picture in question of the house in 4th of July decoration made me smile. I loved the quaint house, the strong colors and also the patriotic attitude that it displayed. Was it a "great" photo? Maybe not, but if it elicited an emotion from someone I'd say it was worthy.

I come here for the wonderful images that are shared. I get a different perspective and "see" what I often overlook. Different parts of the world that I may never see, different people and cultures and the stories that are shared. So, pick your best photo and post it and keep doing it! Remember, there is a difference between constructive criticism and well meanness.

For last Christmas , I lucked out and received a MP-E macro . Never had much time to play with it until yesterday . Took it out to a local conservation area and went bug hunting . Found this thing . Just as a reference , shot hand held using a mp24 ring light , aperture set to f13 , shutter 1/250 ( via custom function) , iso 400 , lens set to 2X magnification , on a 50D body . The flowers are around 3mm diameter. It's a manual focus lens in that you move your position in and out to achieve focus ... the only thing you adjust on the lens itself is magnification . Ideally a focusing rail and tripod are called for , but really won't work for capturing anything in motion , so focusing is hand held and hit or miss.

Golf

Shot a charity golf tournament last month for a local hose company. It was the second time I've shot the event and I came away with a lot of images I'm happy with.
