Pretty... Where is this?

Thanks. Iona Beach, Richmond B.C. That platform or whatever its called is something like 5km long that sticks out into the ocean. I walked to the end to watch the sun set. Nothing but water and the horizon.

Does anyone know if the Tulips have bloomed around Washington State already? I was thinking about going down to the Tulip Festival tomorrow.

That's amazing. How does one get such a great B&W photo. I've been trying and mine suck! Care to share?

If it was me taking the photo I'd have to use something like Silver Efex Pro 2!! The TWO previous B&Ws are great!

Thanks! Basically was just convert to B&W on LightRoom and mess around with the settings :p Though if you can, try out the "Creative: Split Tone 1" effect on LR, does pretty much the same. :D

I would have used Silver Efex Pro 2 on my dead tree pick above if I had been at home, but I took the pic this morning on my way to work and don't have Silver Efex installed on my work computer. I did, however, take three bracketed exposures with my camera just sitting in the sand on top of my hat, put them together in the demo version of HDR Efex using the default (i.e., not crazy looking) setting, then brought it back into Aperture, converted to black & white, and then just played around with the contrast and some highlight reduction until I was happy with it.

Still a very NICE shot. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for letting us know how you did it. Any EXIF info, lens, etc?

It's finally starting to look like spring, so get ready to see some flowers from me :)

Here's my first submission, dandelion.

Is that this (Google Map)? I think that is an outlet from a treatment plant.

The beach immediately North of that line has claimed it's share of vehicles. They get stuck and high tide makes it worse. I've been there once and ended up taking a friend to Richmond General when he came back from venturing on his motor bike and couldn't remember where he came from, or wiped out! Never did find his helmet.

Yup that's the one! That huge pipe is where the cities poop goes out into the ocean. British Columbia is not that beautiful anymore now is it? hah.

Sorry to hear about your friend but I've never seen anything like that happen there before.
