HDR New Orleans

Awesome shot on the other page by Otter! great framing of the skyline and the lighting up the cool looking trees really added to the shot!

Breakfast of champions...

D300, 80-200f/2.8 @ 200mm, 1/500, f/2.8, ISO200

Great shot. I love the light and sense of depth here. Really glad you didn't convert this one to B&W.

Thanks Phrasikleia. I was drawn to the backlighting in this location as the riders were coming up the trail, so a few shots worked out, even though the lighting was really tricky and contrasty. Lots of the other photographers in other parts of the course were using fill flash, which I was determined to avoid just out of pure stubbornness, and because I like natural light best. I just tried to look for the light. The guy's blue reflective glasses were a bonus... :)

Great colors and framing in this shot. The exposure for the lake and sky is perfect, but I would like to see a bit more detail in the shadows.

I keep trying to get shots like this at my local wildlife refuge, but the herons never cooperate. And don't even ask me about getting the gators to pose...

Thanks

Yeah Dale, those shadows were deep. I shoot RAW and tried to pull some more detail in PP but I got what you see. There was no sun at all on that shore. I need one of those wireless flashes eh ? Thanks for the comments and suggestion.

Oh, and that gator did look nasty! Rowbear, that's a nice shot of the Heron.
