Lions Gate Bridge at night

Traffic crosses Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver Canada. A personal favourite of mine, this image is unique view of the already well photographed bridge connecting downtown Vancouver with North Vancouver. While I had previously shot from this vantage point, I felt the image was too ordinary and common with other work out there. I used a 300mm 2.8 lens that I had access to that evening to create this much better version.

Edited in Aperture 3 there is heavy use of dodge and burning and while it appears to be a black and white treatment, it's actually just very desaturated.

Hi, folks. I have updated my ImageShack tutorial and changed the link in the opening post for this month. Please check it for me to assure that it's public. I am also thinking of making the Google Documents folder I keep these in public and posting the link in the Welcome post. Then I could add, remove or update items when I'm not the thread starter. PM me with your thoughts on this. Here are the links:

ImageShack Update 2010

MacRumors Google Documents Folder

Try to mess with the folder link and see it you can access Sharing or any of the editing features.

Edit: The new ImageShack doc doesn't show up in the folder yet. It may take a while for Google to do it's thing. Whatever that is. I once thought of changing my sig to Google: Indexing the World One Soul at a Time...

Thanks,

Dale

Here is my contribution of the day. This was taken for my photography class. Its a beginners class and we are focusing on depth of field. C&C is welcome.

Depth of field using a fisheye lens is an interesting take. I think this would work better with a longer lens, though. Your DOF is tightened down to the center of the image only, and that doesn't give us much to look at. With a longer lens, the shallow part of the DOF would become a plane with more shapes to flush it out.

I hear what your saying. I should have said this when I posted the picture...we had to take pictures with the maximum available aperture and the minimum available aperture, which for me with my 18-55mm lens is F4.8-F32. We also had to shoot the picture with our cameras normal(I cant think of the word)mm. And to find it we had to do (for Nikon's) 1.5x the millimeter of the lens, to find out what millimeter is approximately what the human eye sees. Which I guess for Nikon's is 33mm. Does this make sense? We had a grace period of +or- 5mm. So the picture of that plant was between those two numbers.
