accidently wound up at my schools football game tonight. Only had the 28-135 on me, so that was fun. Here's one of my favorite shots from the night.

I used to lurk these forums about a year ago, then I got caught up with moving and work and things, so I never posted anything. Now, I've made a deal with myself that I'll buy more equipment if I take pictures regularly and get better at it. So, for my first post, I present something that has already had a few good reactions among my friends. I took it at a coffee shop in Milwaukee a few weeks ago.

I tend to lean toward a style that seems less popular in this forum, but I'm posting here because I've always liked the vibe on these threads. Let me know your thoughts.

I have 2 from Cannon beach Oregon.

This picture I really like, and even though it was taken on an iPhone 3G, back ground, is a little haunting. When I took this photo I was imagining some dark monster come from the sea, and how the people on the beach were unaware of the terror that awakens from the deep.

this picture just reminds me of being lost, loosing some body close to you, or just being alone and forgotten.

I can't judge your style from one pic, but if you're into simple, graphic, colourful, semi-abstract pix (and I hope you are ;)), I'm sure you'll find an appreciative audience here.

Kevin Costner fans will probably recognize this.

For the rest of us, it's Sycamore Gap, along Hadrian's Wall, UK.

I really like the minimalism and the (almost) primary color scheme. The textures are really nice too.

If there is a preferred or more popular "style" on this forum, then I've not noticed it. Photos here seem to run the gamut, which is part of what makes this thread so addictive. :)

I recognize and appreciate the technical problems you faced in that situation; that 28-135 is a rough assignment under the lights. Nice job in getting a decent capture.

Another shot of "The Island" at Wakami.

I love the light in this one. Composition wise the sea level is too centered and the leaf at the bottom right is distracting, you might want to consider a slightly different crop (cut off the bottom and right). I take it you were shooting hand held at 1/20s, it shows as the island is not sharp. No need for ISO100 here as with ISO200 you'd get 1/40s which would make hand holding at 52mm just barely possible, but ideally you'd need either shake reduction or a tripod.
But otherwise a great catch, did you wait for the light to hit the island or was it just luck?

Just got this shot a few minutes ago in my yard. It's a little noisier then I would like, but I think it turned out pretty well, otherwise.
