I was scared out of my wits when I took this one. I had come to do a little recon mission for a future photo, but I couldn't find the location I was looking for. It's probably just as well because I'm not sure I would have had the courage to take the shot anyway. This is what I got when I decided to test out my comfort level with shooting this gorge--lying on my belly, hanging over the edge, and knowing that a fall would mean certain death: terrifying!

But was your camera safe???... Great photo but a little poorly timed around here. The Rangers just recovered the body of a man who fell to his death while shooting a photo like this on Mt. Rainier. I'm not trying to spook you, I just want to keep you around.

This is a good reminder for others to seriously consider the risks you take.

By dumb choice I walked onto some very slippery slimy rocks along a river to get a shot. I did slip but somehow managed to get my footing and not fall. I consider that one of the luckiest events in my life. If I had fallen, I would have likely had slid into the raging river and become a death statistic.

To sum up. For 1 photo out of 1100 on that trip, I almost killed my self.

Bought a reverse ring for my 14-140 panasonic lens - good for ultra macro photography... here are my first few shots. Nothing too special, need to do some outdoor shots during the daylight to experiment more.

I'm glad my anecdote was able to put a little spotlight on the issue of safety while shooting. It's always very sad to hear about a photographer whose risk-taking ended badly.

For today, something much easier, taken from the comfort of a rooftop terrace bar where they let me set up my tripod. Glass of wine in one hand and remote shutter release in the other...ahhh...my kind of shooting! ;) :D

Mine for the day - not the camera that i would have liked to have used so it feels too washed to but the setting was wonderful!

That's nice .... I like the way you have just the one face in focus and how being in B&W accentuates this . Done with a film Leica?

Yup, with a 35mm/1.4 lens. I find that the equipment doesn't matter as much though as long as the lens is sharp when it come to film. You get the full DOF effect because it's always full frame. Been using a Ricoh GR1v as well and that's just a joy to use :)

Climbing harness, two good anchors, 10.5mm rope, one strong belayer and a perspective nobody ever shoots ;)
