Wow - thats very nice! Where is that ? Scotland?

Thanks... It's the Lake District, in the North-West of England, reckoned by most people (?) to be the most beautiful part of the country (though I actually prefer the Yorkshire Dales). The 'Lakes' and 'Dales' are two of our national parks...

A bit of abstraction...

Moonbow

I was going to post this in the "Full Moon Fever" Thread, but since it doesn't actually feature the moon. I thought here was more appropriate.

This evening around 10pm BST I was lucky enough to witness a fairly rare phenomenon. A Moonbow or Lunar Rainbow. It normally happens when the moon is at its fullest, the sky is dark and there is rain falling opposite.

I have only ever seen it once before. This time I had my camera with me. The shot is a 10 second exposure with the camera leaning on a fence post. It was taken in Northumberland, England. You can see the lights of the village of Milfield in the distance.

Wow, very cool

Bought myself a Tokina 11-16 mm f/2.8 here in Beijing for a nice price and went out for a shoot mounted on my D7000. Here a first example, handheld, so not tack sharp at ISO 200|16 mm|-0.67 ev|f/6.3|1/15 s. Corrected with PTLens but i did not see a difference with the original. This area contains many small shops specialized in calligraphy materials.

I went to a 9/11 remembrance ceremony this morning. The rusted piece of metal in the background is from one of the World Trade towers. It was installed with the rest of the sculpture during the ceremony. Other photos of the ceremony can be seen here:

Great images in your gallery.

Sep 11, 2011 Brighton Michigan 9/11 Memorial Ceremony.
Army vet beside me while fireman uniform laid beneath the 9/11 steel.
(The steel piece was center structural member from the Sky Lobby floor either floor 44 or 78, they could not be exactly sure, nor which tower it came from.)

I spoke with him afterward, he served in Vietnam and attends these Ceremony's and funerals/etc with his fellow vets. Told me how when he got out of service how he hid his uniform, it was the early 70's.
I shook his hand, looked him in the eye and thanked him for protecting my freedom, and my kids.
