Thx! Canon 5D, 24-105mm L series

You'll have to tell me how you got the buildings so sharp. I use the same lens on a 7D and it suffers sometimes. Its me thats the problem, for sure but its nice to see what the lens is capable of. Was this a 24mm?

----------

Also, did you use a flash light for the rocks in the foreground?

The trick to getting everything sharp is when using this lens on a tripod turn of the image stabilizer. Using the "is" while on a tripod is not recommended. Also, I utilized the park lights that were behind me to brighten up the rocks.

Rain Shadow. Roof of the waiting ares at the Sumner train station. I think they installed this upside down. Only in Washington would partly dry me acceptable...;)

Starry starry night.

Yeah. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate the lines are not what they should be. I was tripod-less and wanted to try this shot because I'd seen similar in photo mags. So I did this handheld and got what you see. For me, this was a big deal and big deals are what POTD threads are all about no ? I wanted to share what I felt was an accomplishment. Others might like to try this as well and of course, yes, a tripod would straighten out the lines. The location is a couple of hundred klicks away... so it will take me some time to return, but I will. I'm also liking some of the star shots I see, so with my tripod at home and my D-700 braced against a pole at an angle to the sky, I got this... another shot I though had some merit for my level of ability. Thanks, BJ.

Along the Big Hole River

I was finally able to break away from the work routine and get out into the countryside to take some photos. Since the sunny sky was out with a vengeance, I put on a CP. Here's one of the batch I took:

New friend

This little fellow is a neighborhood stray that I affectionately call Battle Cat. He's wonderfully friendly and is to the point where he will cuddle with me on the front porch... unfortunately my youngest resident cat does not like the idea of more company in the house, so I believe BC will have to remain an outdoor kitty...

For now, anyway :)

First shot at taking pics with my NEX-3(don't claim to be a pro and never will, but I'm slowly learning..)

C/C is always welcome.

Should be safe for work, she's clothed. Kept the pose as "glam" as possible.
Tripod, midnight, 3 sec exposure I think. Iso was like 4-800. "Hold still!" LOL
