I like the idea of doing the best with what we’ve got. Maybe your lens wasn’t ideal for shooting close-ups of the birds... but instead you’ve captured a wonderful sense of space and freedom. Great pic (and would make a good desktop too)...

Thank you very much Doylem, really appreciated your comment. As always your landscape photos are inspiring, everytime you posted pictures, I try to understand what made you press the shutter. Oh by the way, Your honest C&C to pictures in this thread, negative or positive, Keep them coming as I'm sure a lot of people are "listening" and learning including me.

Great pic. I love the way the dog's at full extension - legs, tail, ears - a little bundle of kinetic energy...

Thanks Doylem, the feedback's really appreciated! There were quite a few shots that only had bits of him. He moves so fast, and it was really awkward as I was lying down, but I got there in the end.

Here's a shot I took today in the city looking across a water feature/sculpture to the museum.

This one was taken yesterday under the arch at La Défense in Paris. Very impressive place for its architechture.

Love the definition and repetition of the windows there.

Must have been in the air yesterday... I finally got to take a shot of a clash between two buildings that I've wanted to do for years in black and white (I only got my DSLR about 6 weeks ago).

insects

first off sorry I had to post two snaps, but in order to tell the story, it has to be.These insects as I know them are called danylonglegs (not sure the spelling is correct)well anyway they seem to like my glass door to sun themselves but the amazing thing is that the little birds pick them off without crashing into the window, they seem to enjoy the tasty meal and leave only the legs and wings behind.Just wondering if anybody else ever saw this happening!

My first post here after months of enjoying the absolutely outstanding work by contributors to the Digital Photography portion of the forum.

My little buddy at full speed!

I love this shot by ijohn.8.80 and the way he has captured the energy of his buddy. I don't want to derail this thread into one of pet shots but I wanted to put one up of my best friend. The quality is not nearly as good but I just started experimenting with motion blur and will keep working at it.

Still working on this one, this is as shot.

Is that a meteor streaking horizontally across the middle of the sky?

I believe it is, making this an even more awesome photograph.

Sorry for the delay in response. I've not been able to get to the forums lately. :(

Unfortunately there isn't a meteor in that shot. I agree, that would have bee pretty sweet. What I do see is a ton of JPEG artifacts. I hadn't looked that closely at the image after I posted it. I'll have to look at my server side code to see where I'm killing the output.

Home town. Taken in broad daylight from an old (1426) 30m high tower that was only open today for national monument day.
