Hi all,
I'm running iOS26 (26.5).
I'm constantly encountering an issue with Photos on my iPhone (17PM). I take a lot of photos, I like editing them (not heavily) to get the best images. I find AirDrop hit and miss, so more often than not, will set up a shared album of a specific day out so my wife can add to/upload as she see's fit.
However, there seems to be this constant issue on my Photos app, where by edited images will fail to upload-but not be missing, will hang when sharing. I like the shared album approach because I can select multiple images to add to the album, but if I select multiple images, I find that the progress wheel may progress through a quarter, 2 thirds, half etc, and then just stop. It hangs and hangs until I get a message saying something along the lines of 'Image can't be uploaded, try again later'. No big issue for the occasional photo, but in the last album I created, of the 41 images I tried to upload, 14 of them failed. I only know it's 14 because when this happens, in order to figure out which images won't load, I have to then add images one by one.
There is a solution: it's usually the edited photos. So I copy edits, revet to original, re-paste the edits, make one minor tweak (maybe adjust one increment on one filter) and hey-presto, the image is then able to be uploaded. Works everytime. I do, if if I've taken lots of photos in the same area, copy edits and apply to multiple images. Some of these images upload fine, some don't. But, I also get the same issue when sending via Messages. If I select a handful of images, I get the same issue-hangs, then I have to figure out which image is the issue. But, it also behaves the same way if I'm uploading to Instagram.
It is *really* frustrating. My default setting is HEIF, with Res. set to 24mp, nothing editing shouldn't be able to handle. I also notice that when editing, my phone gets really warm-but it's all over warm-screen and rear. I get it's doing a lot, but it's akin to my iPhone 15PM, which I didn't think was supposed to happen with the water cooling on this model.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have a solution? It is a first world problem I know, but something that should be really simple in terms of process, ends up being a laborious chore.
Cheers,
Dan
