I actually find this kind of stuff *way* more interesting than the normal junk... Every site on the net posts the same specs, rumors, statistics, and press-releases ad-nauseum.

This kind of thing is actually interesting and fairly uncommon.

Jeeze people, if you aren't interested stop clicking and reading and especially commenting...

People are just having fun and excited about getting their new iPhones. Party poppers should play somewhere else if they find this offensive.

This is a 777, not a 747. It says “777” right in one of the pictures.

Not to be too nit picky, but...

Right above that "777" photo shows this pesky little bit of info...

"a second shipping photo from China Daily depicts a similar plane loaded with iPhones departing from the Henan province in China bound for Chicago last week."

Here is the link.

. I think we can take this pilot's word that this is an acceptable thing to do over your speculation. He is, after all, the professional here. Surely he knows what he is or isn't allowed to do.

Because no one has ever been fired for doing something they thought they could do.

Okay, you do not want to see the point.

Let me try again:

When I (Apple) pay for the transportation of my goods, I do not want ANYBODY
to know about it for a variety of reasons.

Security, Press, Competitors etc.etc.

How does this pilot have the right to publish confidential information?

And, again why doesn't/didn't he do this with all the freight he is/has been
flying?

Apple = headlines comes to mind.

On a personal note, I do not care to know when these phones come into the country and where and when they get distributed.

I am from a generation that knows how to wait and doesn't need the latest gadget or my life ends.
(See some of the entitlement posts in other threads)

As always, I'll wait for ample supplies in the stores, will hold one in my hand to decide 4.7 or 5.5 and will also wait for the first report of "ISSUES" as these only settle after about 3 months.

The entire frenzy is silly in my book.

Thank you for insight, makes my my excitement for my new iPhone 6+ that much more exciting! Especially when it upsets miserable unhappy people like you! Just a personnel note......;)

I preordered the Plus 128 from AT&T at 3:45 am and was given an October 13-22 ship date. Imagine my surprise when I checked the status and it was moved up to 10/02-10/13. Bring it on!

What time zone? What color?

I ordered mine (a 6 Plus 128GB Silver) at 2:01 CST and still show a 10/13-10/22 shipping date.

The phones wont be delivered by FedEx, they will simply drop them out of the plane for you to catch...

Because no one has ever been fired for doing something they thought they could do.

Point taken, but I believe a commercial pilot might be a bit more careful about this sort of thing. I don't think after all the hard work to get where he's at he would throw it all away for a couple pictures and some fairly meaningless information. I trust he knows what he's doing.

Again I fail to see what the big deal is anyways. Some of you make this out to be a cargo plane full of highly classified nuclear weapons or something.

Jesus. It's just phones. Planes full of expensive cargo are flying over your head-

Every. Single. Day.

He might not have any rules saying he can't do that, that doesn't mean Apple won't dislike what he did. It is information that I'm sure competitors could somehow, in someway use to their advantage. Apple is a very secretive company and they are very need to know. They don't like this sort of thing. I'm not one of the people that is saying he will 100% be fired for it, but if I were in his shoes I'd have errored on the side of caution, better safe than sorry.

It all makes sense now!! LOL

The phones wont be delivered by FedEx, they will simply drop them out of the plane for you to catch...

They've been hinting at this since they released iOS7!!

It's all so clear to me now!!

6Plus must be in very high demand and low supply compared to the 6. I ordered a 6 at 10AM EST from Verizon and still have a ship date of the 19th. I guess Apple underestimated the 5.5" demand.

Or rather....

...they know which models to hold tightly to in order to MAKE people want it more. It's reverse psychology. People want what they can't have. The iPhone 6 PLUS is last year's 5S in Gold. I was the 3rd person in line at last year's 5S launch, and the first guy in line sold his ticket (Golden ticket? LOL) for a Gold AT&T 64GB 5S for $540...just the ticket! It seemed like the buyer had his own buyer that was willing to pay the premium.

Also, if they had 100% delivery of +4 million iPhones on launch day, the sizzle of a new product will subside quite rapidly. Who would be talking about the excitement of waiting for their new toy, if they were to already have it?

Look! I found this on the internets. It's a mailman! Delivering a letter! Eeeeeeee!

He's fired too!

A stock photo of a pretend mailman is not the same as taking photos of your employers shipment on the plane you are flying. You are a pilot, not a PR photographer.

So go roll your eyes somewhere else.

Yes, I'm sure that apple prefers impatient, angry customers who are in danger of churning to other devices over happy, satisfied customers who have their devices in hand.

The 'Apple holds back stock to create more demand' trope is very old and stale.

By launching the 6+ before sufficient supplies were in hand, Apple has created the impression that it's the best selling size. A LOT of people are telling me how the 6+ is selling more than the 6, despite evidence to the contrary. People who previously though the 6+ was too big now give it a second thought due to the bandwagon psychological effect.

It's a fine balance; constrain supply too much and sales are lost, but constrain it only slightly, and it generates buzz. Apple are VERY good at this marketing tactic.
