Very sad, that thing looks like a damn iPad 1 and probably will just be a huge a** iPad. Apple really needs to step up their game. Microsoft and Google are really trying to push out something new, and although their new products dont do very well, they are still trying and I think thats really cool. Apple is really starting to lose its "Appleness" so to speak. After the Watch and the Mac Mini that was it for me....

Apple has a leg up on these companies being that they are Apple. Remember when people said that the JooJoo tablet was better than the iPad? Google Wallet was going to do what Apple Pay is doing now? I'm sure Apple will nail it with the Watch, and this computer might have a trick or two up its sleeves.

Theory, hear me out guys. What if the Apple logo is black because it's actually where the hover-feature is located, and this new gen of MacBook doubles as a hoverboard?

Think about it. When you're done working, you just place it above the ground and glide home.

The geniuses at Apple did it again.

You think people will stop buying Macs because the logo on the back doesn't light up?

Some would. I think people are attracted to Macs because of their design first and foremost. OS discover follows.

You don't chat up the girl at the bar because you think she may have a nice personality. You are attracted physically first.

Not sure if anyone did this yet, but I enhanced the picture in iPhoto and got this. Take it with a grain of salt though. It does seem like there's still a bezel.

Looks like it will be similar to a rMBP screen. I'm not aware of any rumor that suggested the screen would have no bezel. But moving away from the aluminum bezel is a plus imo.

But Apple sells a lot more iOS devices and none of them have a glowing :apple: logo.

Wooohooo... The days of the fat bloated 3" thick MacBooks are over!

Rumor has it that this MackBook will come in at just under 0.005" thick, weighing a modest 3.5 oz. Now that should silence the critics that routinely moan about big heavy Macs.

What's the point of that - if anything, it's battery saving (highly appreciated) feature :)

It's not actually saving the battery, the logo was lit up from the screen lighting up. I still don't care if they take it away. IMO it's very fanboyish for people to want to show off to everybody they have an Apple Macbook. I can understand if the user could see the logo but the only people seeing the logo are others around you. Fanboy advertising at it's best.

What if this is a touch screen mac??

i'd buy it in a second. But it won't be. ill be splurging on the SP4 later this year. Tis a shame, i would have rather stayed in OSX. I think the Apple community would seriously come up with some amazing creative way to use a touch screen mac w/ pen.

My guess is that they are taking what they've learned with the iMac and placing the internals behind the display. Using the aluminum shell of the display also helps them dissipate heat for the fanless design since it is standing up in the open air rather than facing the desk. This also falls in line with what we've heard about a trackpad that doesn't click and ports (I.E. the keyboard assembly is too thin to house those components).

The glowing logo may simply be sacrificed due to other hardware-related requirements, but it could also indicate that they intend to place cellular capability into these ultra-portable devices.

Interesting stuff.

"Additionally, the display lacks the grey bezels current MacBook Air models have, instead opting for an apparently all-glass edge-to-edge cover for the display as seen on Retina MacBook Pro models."

This more than makes up for a non-glowing logo, in my mind. I hate the silver frame around the current Macbook Air displays.

I am with you on that one, I would love to have 4G built in!
(yes I can use my phone for teetering as well but that eats up the battery and as soon as I make a call the data connection is broken)

The way to keep your iPhone battery charged while tethering is to plug it into the MacBook!

----------

I use multiple USB ports all the time, and I like to sync my iPhone to my computer. Lack of ports is just another reason why this computer is not for me.

Why do you think this computer won't have ports?

----------

I guess this is to go against the Surface Pro 3.

The Surface Pro sells in small quantities. It isn't a threat to Apple and Apple doesn't need to respond to it.

----------

But you have to give them credit in that they're trying, not everything is a huge success. As for Google Glass, it looks like its being transitioned to a more mainstream rollout, so I'd contest that it belongs in your list - just my $.02

Who says Apple doesn't explore new technologies? They most certainly do. The difference is that you don't hear about it until it ships (or is very close to shipping).

----------

No USB port? No thank you.

Stop it. Of course it will have a way to connect USB devices.

here is some free investing advice for my fellow mac rumors

from experience.

The more that mac rumors' posters whine and say things such as "count me out"
"i am switching to Dell" "why can't Apple innovate like Google"
"this is a step backwards"

The more likely Apple will have a hit on their hand and the stock will go up!

Just go back and read some of these post about the iPhone 6 before it came out.
people complaining about the design and the two bands across the back. 100's of varying complaints predicting the demise of Apple and the iPhone 6. So many threatening not to buy. Apple will release their earnings Tuesday. They will announce sales of iPhone 6 that will blow away any previous sales figures of previous iPhone releases. Therefore I got to trust Apple's judgements on product design over the whiners here at mac rumors or Google, Microsoft or Samsung. The profits and Apple's continue growing success speaks louder than the childish
trashing that occurs here on rumors that are not even substantiated. Like yesterday when everyone was "count me out " when a RUMOR that the watch would only last 19 hours. If I am a betting man the rumor is false and I would bet on the success rather than the failure of the iWatch. For those of us who have been around its the same old same old.

But Apple sells a lot more iOS devices and none of them have a glowing :apple: logo.

They have never had the glowing logo.

As it stands, the glowing logo on the MacBook range is iconic. Many people comment when there are lots of Macbooks on display at events etc.

for example.. this was at the windows 10 event...

They shouldn't want to lose this sort of free publicity.

Its madness.

Maybe some people don't want/need everything in Mac OS X, but like the form factor of a MacBook Air? I don't know. I might not need/want a tablet like that, but why should I care if someone else does? Whatever floats your boat. :)

Buy an iPad and a 3rd party keyboard. It might eventually make sense for Apple to sell a keyboard of their own for the iPad, but then you could argue (incorrectly, I think) that it would eat into MBA profits...
