Possible that these white break lines we're seeing are place holders for a filler like liquid metal as was mentioned
This is exactly what i'm hoping for. If not, I hope Apple can match the colors of the seams to the metal better than these mock-ups can.

Every one likes Gold....

24-carrot iPhone would be awesomely expensive, but you'd be the only kid on the block with one.

When I first saw that iPhone 4 which was left in the bar, I thought that industrial-looking design was unique and stunning. I couldn't wait until I saw it in person to confirm my feelings about it. The iPhone 4/4s belongs in a museum. The feeling I get from the iPhone 6 is that it will probably not be stunning like the 4 was, but it will still be alright, just alright. In other words, don't expect to turn heads like you did when you were one of the first iPhone 4 users. Maybe the iPhone 7 will deliver that response. As for the size, that may be an issue with some people and their tight pockets.

I don't think iPhones turn heads anymore. Everyone has one from age 10 to 80. Apple will sell over 100 million of the new iPhones in a year. They will be everywhere pretty quick.

You must've been one of the only ones. Most people, upon the leak, were in a frenzy and couldn't believe apple would release such a design.

I see this repeated year after year with every new iPhone release.

Except that it isn't, since you can hide the on-screen buttons when you don't need them.

It was a total load of bullcrap to begin with, so who cares?

You cannot hide it unless you root it.

There is no option to hide soft key. It's always there by default.

I'm still betting on (and hoping for) this design with saphire on front and back. These are renders, obviously, but based on leaked schematics. iPhone sales would be totally off the charts.

If it looks like that then Im sold - thats the best mockup Ive seen so far ;)
Although I reckon the first post has it almost spot on :(

Pretty sure those are based on the leaked iPhone 7 schematics, not the iPhone 6. Check back in 2016.

That depends if you want on screen buttons or a physical home button. A 5" android phone with on screen buttons is essentially a 4.7" phone.

The difference is Android's "immersive mode" where the content that really benefits from a bigger screen (video, reading apps, etc.) hides the on-screen buttons and uses all of the screen.

It's the same way I use my Macbook Air. I run some apps in full screen mode, and others I use standard with the dock taking up part of the screen.

I will have to say these are the first unattractive iphones (per mock up) from apple IMO. Regardless, since all my phones typically go straight into a case within the first two weeks it wont matter anyway....I think I'll take black though.

The 4.7 will be my first iPhone.

Mac user for 13 years.

Hehe. Gonna be my first iPhone too. Mac user since… uhhh since that era in the 1990s Dinosaur Age when Apple eWorld existed (and I was an eWorld member!)

I do have an iPod and iPad, however. Been a holdout with a feature-flip-phone…. I get laughed at by younger (20-something) co-workers. They're like:

"WHOA! You can text on that…. that…. thing?!" :D

Thinking Apple needs to put a little girth on these larger screens. Are they going to continue to elongate the screen but give it no width? If so, the next few versions will look ridiculous.

I really hope these leaks are decoys and that :apple: releases a new form factor, never seen before. The old designs are boring and unimaginative now. The scaled up 4.7" and 5.5" designs with the breaks are boring. Jony Ive, I'm disappointed. What do all those breaks do anyway?
Less bezel would be great. A larger screen that you can still use with one hand is ideal. That should have been the foremost design goal.

Just hoping...

no apple on the back? fake!
i thought it was going to have no bezel on the sides? fake? sensing already does this.
why are the cameras so different? the 4.7 looks like it has a plastic frame around the lens? fake!!

i think the breaks are for the antenna to give you better signals, that i can deal with. but i'm with you about the bezel. puke!!it should be gone! if samsung can do it surely apple can too!! the camera's look off too. so i'm thinking fake or prototype. at least i hope!

i was also hoping the watch wasn't a plain old looking watch. but unless sapphire glass can be bent i'm betting on an old style watch. i was hoping for one that looked like the artists rendered ones that look kinda like a hi-res nike fuel band.

Didn't people complain about the iPhone 4 design too when all the leaks occurred? The design turned out to be iconic.

Yep, when the iPhone 4 leaked, there were lots of comments about how it was "too industrial looking" (chunky instead of curvy) to be an Apple design.

Now everyone loves it. People sure are fickle :)

(The gaps are) plastic, to allow the Bluetooth and wireless antennas to receive signals (which is normally blocked by the metal case). My guess is that Apple will probably colour them to make them blend in with the casing better and not stick out so much.

If it's like the HTC One, the gaps are to separate the top and bottom metal antenna sections from the middle metal body piece. WiFi and Bluetooth can share the top section.

Obviously I'm still going to go out and buy it just cause it's an iPhone freakin 6 but still ... why you gotta make it not classy??

THAT is exactly the response Apple is looking for. As a business in it SOLELY to make MONEY, they do not CARE what you think... as long as you continue to buy their product.

Don't you get it yet?

never a truer word said... Its the most one sided relationship on planet earth right now..

I'm really saddened by how ugly this phone is. It's just a total mess aesthetically.

what phone? this is just a rumored mockup, not a phone.

uh, dude? surely you know what apple knows -- that in order to continue buying the product, you have to care about your customers and how they think and feel. apple knows this, which is why their designs are so popular and they sell better than any other single model.

Why is it so hard to believe that the next iPhone will still have large bezels? The phone will probably have a hardware home button and there isn't much more space to be saved there.

Shrinking the top bezel would cause the bottom bezel to look extraordinarily out of place. It would destroy the phone's symmetry.

I don't think it's hard to believe they will do it, I'm fully expecting an upsized 5s with a new back cover.
It's hard to believe that with so many of their competition coming out with phones that have ever decreasing bezel size that Apple wouldn't attempt to address it.
I for one would welcome an asymmetrical phone design if it meant the overall length of the iPhone decreased by 4-5mm.

Except that it isn't, since you can hide the on-screen buttons when you don't need them.

If so, doesn't the app have to support it? In any case some people still prefer a physical button and with the introduction of touch ID, it's not going anywhere.

What I don't understand are the complaints about bezels and using the LG G3 as an example as if the G3 has no compromises by having no physical keys.

Apple has to move the physical home button to reduce the bezel, there's no magic pixie dust to do it any other way.

I don't think iPhones turn heads anymore. Everyone has one from age 10 to 80. Apple will sell over 100 million of the new iPhones in a year. They will be everywhere pretty quick.

A handful of people asked me to look at my iPhone 5. The same happens with every major iPhone release.

I, for one, am not mad about this design at all. It's just a bit different than from what I expected.
I know for a fact that the iPhone 6 will look a lot better when Apple releases it, as this is a mock-up, and in no way, shape or form resembles the final copy, as far as how it looks and what materials are used to make it.

I have the iPhone 4, so I don't really care how this looks, either way it will be a huge upgrade.
If It doesn't have a TrueTone flash, that's okay, I've never used it so I probably won't miss it. The rounded edges don't bother me, however, when I had my iPod touch 5G, I always felt like it was sliding off my hand when I didn't have a case on it. (I guess we shall see how the rounded edges preform, if it is indeed a part of the final design)

Bezels, everyone is talking about them.
I do however think that the bezels could be shrunk down a bit from the iPhone 5S (I am not saying the mock-ups bezels are big, don't hate me) if Apple wants to have a kind of edge-to-edge glass (which would look very nice)
As for the home button, I think that Apple can still keep it, and still shrink the top and bottom bezels a bit. Like this:
http://www.ciccaresedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/iPhone-6-04-cd.png
Which would help the phone from being so tall.

As for the sleep/wake button, I don't like it on the side, I rather take an extra second to shift my hand in order to touch it, I feel like it's too "Android-powered device" like and that gives more room for people to whine about "(this company) copied (this company)"

I don't mind the antenna bands, as long as I can hear the person on the line very clearly.
However, I wish that the rumors pointed to a more minimalist antenna design, such as the iPhone 4/4S tiny antenna splits along the sides of the phone, or something that looks cosmetic like the glass panels on the iPhone 5/5S.

I see the 4.7 inch phone as still being able to use it with one hand, but the 5.5 inch seems....like a very unnecessary version, baby steps Apple, baby steps.

It doesn't really matter, I'm still going to buy it however it looks. The only thing that matters is how the phone preforms, not how it looks (that's personal preference)
I know this isn't the final copy so don't flip your lid for something that could be much different than we are expecting, didn't everyone hate the iPhone 4 design when it was released? Didn't everyone hate the iPhone 5 design? Just saying.

Expect me to be in line at the launch date. See all of you crazies there!

Juan :apple:
