Dual Flash

The dual flash was the FIRST thing I looked for on these mockups. I too don't seem to see such a dual flash in these. Perhaps they just made it closer and enclosed in the larger looking flash that is seen here. I personally like and appreciate the dual flash of the 5S very much.

Dual flash seems gone based upon these photos and mockups. What gives?
I don't have a 5S, but how much of a difference does the dual flash make?
If it was an improvement, surely they'd keep it.

The black mockup with the back lines/breaks looks bearable. This gold one (and the other white ones) however, don't. Unsure about the appearance - especially as someone who has never used a case on an iPhone ever.

No, it's just a choice.
You could place the touch ID on the back, for unlocking, and have a narrow home button where the current one if if you wanted to.

There is no reason, it's just a choice.

There absolutely is a reason. Putting it in the home button is the simplest way for people to keep using their phones the way they always have. It's simple and effective. Putting it on the back would be stupid in my opinion. You have to feel around for it, have an extra part of the phone to use, and take away from the look of the phone. The way apple did it makes sense in many ways. They did it such that you don't even know it's there and you don't have to learn how to use it which is the whole point.

----------

Those antenna seams are so ugly that there has to be something these mockups have misunderstood on the schematics or the build technique... Because they truly make it looks like some build error tried to be fixed with glue or something by an amateur. And apple aren't amateurs in the field of industrial design... Even Samsung would not have made such ugly seams.

Where did you get your design degree from?

We can only hope. If it's really been this easy to get access to the dimensions and specs, Tim should review the meaning of "doubling down"

Come on. It's going to be damn near impossible to keep the most anticipated phone of the year from leaking. I think the doubling down is proving true since absolutely no one has any clue what the iWatch or next gen Apple TV will look like. Once these things are being mass produced in china it's going to be impossible to completely prevent leaks. If you think the iPhone 6 won't look like these mock ups, prepare to be disappointed.

These antenna lines and these large bezels really look bad. I'm hoping that these pictures really aren't what the IPhone 6 looks like.

Still to early to get reliable leaks. Don't panic yet

I can't get over how ugly those breaks are ... like seriously. I've always loved all of the previous iPhone designs and never had a problems with the changes in iOS 7 but this looks so gross.
Get a grip here, there is nothing wrong with the so called breaks. It is a hell of a lot better than having a plain aluminum back
I can't even. Obviously I'm still going to go out and buy it just cause it's an iPhone freakin 6 but still ... why you gotta make it not classy??

I doubt you even understand the word classy! Your idea of classy seems to correlate with other words like: boring, unimaginative, bleak, or cold Sadly I'm betting you are also one of the 99% that puts his iPhone in a cheap rubber case 10 seconds after buying it.

One thing everyone needs to remember is that apple is not going to completely redesign the iPhone. It is the most iconic, recognizable cell phone ever. They want everyone who sees your phone to know it is an iPhone.

So because Apple's hardware engineers have implemented it one way, no one else can have an opinion? Why do you constantly only think that it is Apple's way or no way? Why did you bring Samsung into this debate? It's not about them.

I never said that. But having an opinion isn't the same as knowing how something could be designed and implemented. Some of the comments here are suggesting that Apple engineers are just lazy and taking the easy way out. Excuse me if I chose not to believe that. And the reason I mentioned Samsung is because their implementation of a finger print scanner also utilizes a physical button. Perhaps implementing it on screen isn't as easy/feasible as some here are suggesting?

If you don't have have a 5S why are you even worried?

The camera has been improved with every iPhone release, do you think that all of a sudden they will stop improving it or effectively go backwards?

I bet you have whined about every chassis design that has come out since iPhone #1. Maybe it is just me but a lot of people on this forum seem to have trouble with self esteem and try to enhance it with materials from the physical world. It is a terrible treadmill to be on folks! ####

I don't remember many people complaining about Touch ID in the home button when the 5S came now. Now, if Apple doesn't produce a bezel less phone they're lazy and no longer know how to innovate.

Zoom in on the pictures of the backs of the IPhone 6. The power button on the 4.7 is white and the shape is off as if this was done in Photoshop.

I'm not going to get excited about yet another mockup that may or may not closely resemble what we'll see in about three months. Apple has gotten better at keeping the lid on unreleased products, though it's obviously more difficult with hardware because of suppliers and accessory vendors.

Mr. Cook is probably choosing his secrecy battles. We've seen a number of different iWatch concepts, but we don't know yet what the actual product will look like. But the watch will be a brand new product.

How many blog stories were there on the Swift programming language before WWDC?

Besides, the new iPhone could have features that haven't been revealed yet. But even if we've seen all there is to see, the iPhone is a mature product that gets refreshed every year, and a new design every other year. Why even bother?

Get the design out there ahead of time, so case makers can have a lot of options ready on day one, and so the financial analysts can decide how this will affect the stock price, and so the people who hate change can have a few months to get used to the new look.

I've not read on this thread the suggestion that Apple's engineers are lazy,(granted I may have missed it and if so no doubt you could show me a link or quote the post for my perusal) but perhaps it is your perception? Just because another company implements the finger print scanner similar to Apple does not mean that it is not "easy/feasible" to achieve in a different manner perhaps you have a source to prove that it isn't.

the camera lens on the 5.5 seems significantly larger than the 4.7 ....
Interesting isn't it? Makes you wonder if the smaller phone is destined to replace the 4S and 5C.
and I dont know if that's an extra sensor/lens or just a large speck of dust left of the front camera lens on the 5.5.
Very observant!
I wonder if Apple is gonna pack the 5.5 with a bunch of higher end features to justify the alleged price increase and push more sales. It'll definitely ruffle the feathers of those who are more than sure of getting the 4.7

To which I have to say those people can grow up or slink back into the darker recesses of their mothers basement. I can imagine Apple making the larger iPhone significantly more powerful than the little guy. The little guy might get an enhanced A7 while A8 is saved for the big box. As for the camera they can only go so big with the aperture before they need to start making the phone thicker.

I'm really disappointed by this.. not buying any of them. The breaks are too thick, the camera is just weird, the bezels are too big... If you can't do it better than that, keep the 5S design factor. Works damn well for me..

What if the antenna breaks are made from liquid metal? That material is supposed to be radio transparent, but apparently not yet ready for the scale of being made into a whole phone. You could make it look better than these plastic mockups, and it would be quite durable.

Then the iPhone 7 in two years is wholly made from liquid metal with no breaks!

Love the "breaks"

This look like an amazing phone. The bezel is nice and the breaks are nice too. Buying 2

I'm still betting on (and hoping for) this design with saphire on front and back. These are renders, obviously, but based on leaked schematics. iPhone sales would be totally off the charts.

Those white lines are hideous, not Apple like. Will be skipping this version if this in fact how it is going to look like. Hoping this is not we are going to see in September.

Lazy and/or not innovative is how I read these posts.

In that case, they messed up last year then and should have had a better longhaul design plan. Hardware home buttons are going the way of dinosaurs and with the need for larger screens, unnecessary real estate is a massive negative. Bezels need to be as small as possible in order to incorporate big screens into smaller handsets.

They could implement the finger print scanner on the back on the phone, get rid of the home button altogether, etc. But what we see here totally lacks any innovation or forward thinking. It is just a blown up iPhone 4-4s-5-5s on the front with a different back IMO

They could easily remove the physical button and place a touch sensitive button or pad and implement it into the bezel if they wanted to. Invisible "pad" for gestures and/or just a touch sensitive button. There are many options.

I'm sorry, but improving your industrial design isn't something so far-fetched that nobody does it - this enlarged 5S is plain lazy.

Of course there is no reason technically it's just a design choice that's all.

If Apple tested out to find a good rear location, made it look nice (slight recess) and sold/marketed it well it would be loved.

Luckily for you none of these are for sale.

Proving my earlier point about self esteem being lacking in this forum?

What the hell is Jonny Ive thinking. Those breaks make it look so cheap. My mates give me a hard time for being a fanboy, but currently the iPhone is stunning front and back. But now the back is fugly.

I'm praying Apple has pulled a fast one and fool everyone by revealing a completely different phone

Seriously what do you care about your mates opinion of the phone you choose to use? If you fell in love with a fugly girl would you tolerate such non sense from these supposed friends?

The fact that you suggest that you are "praying" for something different further seals the idea that you have your priorities out of whack.

Why should one phone be better than the other just because of screen size? The iPad Air and mini are essentially the same except for the display's color gamut (which a lot of people complained about). What if Apple decided the 4.7" phone was going to be the flagship device with the best specs. Would you tell all the "big guy" lovers to grow up?

Too much bezel, esp. compared to newly launched LG G3. This one is my benchmark phone, to be compared to iPhone 6 5.5" and Note 4.
The LG G3 is an example of why it is so tough for me to get an Android phone. The LG G3 phone has bad battery life, poor performance and bloatware.

The iPhone also has weaknesses but they are well known. With many Android phones it's hard to know what you're getting into.
