Not a bad idea.
Also, there is something awkward about the pictures, shadows and highlights....It's hard to put my finger on.

Maybe it's the fact that I think a "leaker" most likely wouldn't have photo/lighting skills/time to set up if he/she had access to a fully completed unit.

If it's genuine, it might be an Apple-commissioned shot for their website. It's not obvious to me why that would end up in China, though!

…..It would also make the auto-wake from the smart cover a bit awkward…..

Not sure what to make of these rumors either, but as far as the auto-wake is concerned, opening the cover could just go to the lock screen. However I wonder how many people actually have their iPads password protected?

To have Touch Id on the iPads seems like a logical extension, but with the iPhone5S supply constraints reportedly due to a shortage of those sensors, Touch Id might just not make it this time around, to either the iPad5, or the Mini 2.

yeah I never thought of the constraints however that coupled with these photos looking photoshopped is making me seriously doubt this rumour

Personally, the Touch-ID feature is awesome once you have it. No more typing passwords or 4-digit codes. No more having to tell my spouse the password. I just put in her fingerprint in it.

Plus added multiple prints for myself from convenient angles in which occur when I'm holding my iphone different ways.

It's way convenient. I have no idea why anyone wouldn't want this feature. Even with the feature on, you can still use a password or passcode.

I wouldn't mind multi-user access to the iPad/iPhone as well. However, I think this would hurt Apple sales a bit. If you can share an iPad, why buy another one? I'm sure that's their thinking.

I don't know about your thinking for the multi-users. Added features incentivize a purchase. The whole premise behind the creation of the iphone was that it was so many devices in one. The reason to add multi-users is to get more out of your ipad. More features = more sales. Less features in the hopes of selling more units is a grand way to embitter your customers, and have them look elsewhere.

i think the ipad mini 2 is probably too cheap for it to incorporate Touch ID, unless Apple increases it's price. Touch ID will probably be reserved for the premium full size ipad 5 if anything.

That's a really nice color on the Mini. If it appears like that on the full-sized iPad, I'll definitely be buying.

they are still making home buttons for ipod touch, iPhone 5c and iphone 4s that aren't touch id so this makes no sense. All of those models put together will likely sell more than the 5S does if past numbers are any indication

Very true, but in time, I think we can all agree that all iOS devices will be converted to "Touch ID" right? (as long as the technology remains accepted)
